Did you know that there's an impending bill in Manitoba that would require taxi drivers and hotel staff to call the police if they think someone might be a sex worker? Wearing a short dress and paying cash for a cab home from the bar? You could get a "wellness check".
While the bill is aimed at "ending child trafficking", it does not specify that the new powers proposed are limited to people under 18, nor does it provide any guidance or information as to who will provide training to these drivers and hoteliers. web2.gov.mb.ca/bills/42-4/pdf…

So. I have a lot to say about this idea of “banning porn”. I speak at universities and confs about this idea - specifically porn literacy as media literacy as an alternative to banning porn (which is impossible and dangerous). So here’s a thread.
1- banning porn is essentially impossible, and people that purport to want it banned for “performer safety” don’t realize that prohibition of a thing always makes it LESS SAFE. There’s still a market for it, but the market goes underground, in secret, away from resources and help
