Okay - Share price explanation here we go. Sheikh Jassim has pledged to buy 100% of Manchester United. 31% of the shares are publicly on the market - the New York Stock Exchange. The share price you see are those 31%. So why would share prices rise or fall? In order to buy the 31%, Sheikh Jassim will have to pay a premium to buy them. Estimated at 30-35$ a share. When investors “feel” or “speculate” that the Qatar bid will win, it will drive share prices up. Sir Jim has not made the same pledge so his would not drive prices up.

My personal opinion, is a year ago 99% of fans would’ve absolutely killed for the proposal from SJR today. Get the glazers out of control? Invest in stadium, transfers, and free the club? Best thing to happen in a decade. But then the briefs came about Qatar… And fans got attached to the idea of all that money being promised, of a full sale being a sure thing. So now this step down feels disappointing. The only thing I can preach as I have all along is not get riled excited or disappointed by every single brief…

I will maintain, as I did before the start of the season that the biggest problem with this team is lack of a true 9 and goal scoring threats. Erik got it wrong up front today, but why? He’s spent all year trying to solve the striker problem and has done brilliantly but… United need a world class 9 and Erik was left hung out to dry by the situation last summer. I can laugh that Fred is tied for third on goals, but think about it. Fred is third on goals. We’ve needed 12 goals from Fred and Case to be half decent.
