This is really bothering me, so I have to address this Ti West thing. ICYMI, his picks for the Sight & Sound top 10 poll have been passed around 'Film Twitter' and are being ridiculed for being basic, boring, uninspired, cliche, and many other things. This is the list.
Ti West was born in 1980. I was born in 1983. And I can say, as wonderful as it is now to have almost the entire history of film at your fingertips through various streaming services, and an internet that's catalogued every film ever made, it wasn't always that way.

Due to the rapidly evolving situation, I'm sorry to say that there will be no new #Charting episode this week. There's no shame in playing it safe. BUT - did you think I wasn't gonna make charts anyway? Let's do this in 280 characters or less! (THREAD)
#Onward tops the box office, despite barely eking out a $10 million weekend gross. #Bloodshot debuts in second place, but #IStillBelieve & its $12 million budget may be the real winners here. Ironically, after being pushed due to controversy, #TheHunt was barely noticed.

I'm also covering this on today's Charting, but I think this is really interesting (THREAD). Here's the head of marketing for Gotti defending the movie by citing its high user rating on Rotten Tomatoes. He's right - the rating is very high. But it's a very suspicious number.
Look how many users left a rating for Gotti. Now look at how many left one for Incredibles 2. These numbers shouldn't be on par with each other. Incredibles 2 did over 100 times the business Gotti did - and opened in 3500 more theaters.
