Sortha ulta kyun padhte hain aur Doha seedha?

Learnt something new…so thought of sharing with you all...

Why is Sortha read from the middle and then backed up to start and not from the beginning like a Doha, even when both have the same metrical rhythm.

Answer on next 👇 Rule in Hindi poetry is that segment with 13 Matras (Metrical instants) is read first and then followed by segment with 11 Matras.
Doha has 13 Matras in 1st and 3rd segments and only 11 in 2nd and 4th. Hence the 4 segments are read in sequence of 1, 2, 3 and 4.
