RIGHTS OF THE ELECTRICITY CONSUMER

1. All new electricity connections must be done strictly based on metering before connection. That is, no new customer should be connected by a DisCo without a meter first being installed at the premises.

The attention of the Commission has been drawn to publications in the print and electronic media misinforming electricity consumers that the Commission has approved a 50% increase in electricity tariffs. 2. The Commission hereby state unequivocally that NO approval has been granted for a 50% tariff increase in the Tariff Order for electricity distribution companies which took effect on January 1, 2021.

CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDARDS

Whenever a customer makes a request to a Distribution Company for a new or additional connection to his premises, the Disco shall take measures to fit the meter and connect the power supply within ten (10) working days of receiving the request Provided that:
a.The Disco shall inspect and approve the electrical installation
b.The Disco agrees to connect the supply
c.The customer has paid any approved charges
