Cannot switch off after today

Today we have 7024 people in hospitals with COVID & 160 on ventilators - this is a 37% increase in one week.

The majority cared for on respiratory & acute wards which are already under pressure & more so as the weather changes & winter approaches Staff from all disciplines working overtime, staying late, covering sickness, caring for each other, doing everything to make sure shifts are as supportive as they can be, even when people are struggling emotionally & physically.

The solidarity is powerful but the fear is there

Met a person on the train last night & I can’t stop thinking about them

They were clearly a very kind, sociable person

They noticed my NHS rainbow badge & asked compassionate questions so I warmed to them immediately

I asked questions in return & the conversations started 1/7 They were travelling to visit their grandchildren who they clearly adored

They talked about them fondly, showed me pictures and explained loving about autism and in their experience both the additional challenges, love & opportunity it can bring children 2/7

A New Year’s Day plea on behalf of all the UKs Therapists who want to help rebuild our nation from this tragic pandemic

We need investment across the pathway - we haven’t seen a penny

#LongCOVID clinics are a start but no where near enough 1/6 We have the skills and ability to care for people with complex rehabilitation needs

We work in multi-disciplinary teams, autonomously and in professional groups from intensive care to community

There isn’t a space in health and social care that you won’t find us 2/6
