The Medical Training (Prioritisation) Act, which favours UK medical graduates over International Medical Graduates (IMGs) for jobs, is now law. The BMA Resident Doctors’ Committee (RDC) welcomed the legislation with open arms, pretending this somehow “solves” the NHS crisis. 1/10
Worse, the #RDC has gone further than the government bill, inserting a clause demanding five years’ #NHS experience for a non-prioritised doctor to be reprioritised. This measure was rammed through without consultation of the targets and justified as “fair to other groups.” 2/10
