CLIP OF TRAFFIC POLICE OFFICER ALLEGEDLY COLLECTING BRIBES FROM MOTORISTS

Please be informed that the National Police Service has positively identified the Traffic Police Officer seen in the video clip circulating on social media, while allegedly collecting bribes from public service vehicles.

The Officer, No. 63151 PC Haron Mwangi, attached to Traffic within Buruburu Police Station has been suspended from Traffic Police Unit with immediate effect, and proceedings for his dismissal are ongoing.

CONDEMNATION OF VIDEO CLIP NEGATIVELY DEPICTING THE NATIONAL POLICE SERVICE

The attention of the National Police Service is drawn to a video clip circulating on social media, depicting an improperly dressed 'Police Officer' making misleading and reckless remarks. As a Disciplined Service, we wish to clarify and assure the public that the behaviour portrayed in the clip is not only unacceptable but also doesn't reflect the values of NPS.

The Ag. Chief Executive Officer of African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) Amb. Jalel Chelba, has this morning paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General @NPSOfficial_KE & President of @AfripolA General Assembly, Mr. Japhet Koome, EBS, HSC, ndc (K) at Jogoo House, Nairobi.

During the meeting, they deliberated on how to strengthen mutual cooperation among the 54 AFRIPOL Member States.

He was accompanied by Mr. Peter Otim from African Union (AU) Commission and Mr. Benard Mohammed from Algeria.

Earlier today, the Rift Valley Security team led by the Regional Police Commander Mr. Tom Odero, Assistant Inspector General of Police held a high level security meeting at Kapendasum GSU Camp. 2/4

REMARKS ON THE VIRAL VIDEO OF A MOTORIST REAR-ENDING A POLICE LANDCRUISER

The National Police Service has taken note of a video circulating on social media involving a motorist in a saloon car deliberately and repeatedly rear-ending a white landcruiser vehicle at a roundabout. NPS confirms that the incident occurred in Kisumu this afternoon where a renown advocate severally rear-ended the police landcruiser on patrol duties within the city.

ARREST OF A SUSPECT FOR ILLEGAL CONNECTIONS AND ELECTRICITY THEFT

The National Police Service officers while on patrol at Jua Kali Area within Embakasi arrested a lone suspect in Kenya Power uniform who was spotted doing suspicious activities at an electric pole. The officers requested the imposter, who could not identify himself as a Kenya Power technician, to climb down and they escorted him to Embakasi Police Station. The Kenya Power security personnel who were called confirmed that the suspect does not work with the parastatal.
