No 10 focuses on traditional 🇮🇳 🇵🇰 jewellery worn on special occasions. I thoroughly enjoyed wearing some pieces that I rarely wear through the wedding. The more sparkle the better ✨ 😊🎊 2/Other than necklaces & matching earrings,there are key pieces of jewellery that are specific 🇮🇳 🇵🇰 . First of all is the TIKKA.Worn in the middle of the forehead with a decorative chain that attaches in the hair at the back.There's no set design & varieties of every kind exist.

1/The wedding may be over but there are two important elements i need to still write a bit about. Henna and jewellery 🎉 So here's blog 9 with some info about the origins and variety of henna around the Muslim world.
MEGA BRITISH ASIAN MUSLIM WEDDING BLOG 🧵 🎉 💕 2/2/Henna(Arabic) in 🇮🇳🇵🇰 culture is called MEHNDI which is Hindi.From the henna plant the leaves are turned into a powder then mixing with water, creates the paste which has a very particular and strong fragrance. Here's a quick video of how it's made.

1/Blog 8 has landed of my MEGA BRITISH ASIAN MUSLIM WEDDING BLOG 🧵 🎉 💕 It was the 6th and final event and was WALIMA day which is the post wedding reception thrown by the groom's family and what a spectacular event it was! Tune in below to learn more. 2/The event was held at the beautiful Cameron House on a thankfully dry day. On the stunning banks of Loch Lomond, the set up was absolutely gorgeous. The whites and pinks set off a beautiful summer reception. Not traditional asian colours but a beautiful fusion of east & west.

1/It's time for no 7 of my MEGA BRITISH ASIAN MUSLIM WEDDING BLOG 🧵 🎉 💕.After 5 large events it was finally time for the wedding reception,called the RUKHSATI (ref blog 1). A beautiful evening that brought the bride and groom together 🥰 Check out all the wonderful details 👇🏽 2/The BARAAT, name given to the groom's side 1st gather at the groom's home. A SEHRA BANDI involves different traditions helping to get the groom ready. Sometimes poetry is recited for the groom too. In some traditions the groom's face is covered until he gets to see the bride.

1/ SHAADI UPDATE 6 - the MEHNDI celebrations, the bride's pre-wedding bash was a beautiful colourful and lively event. In 🇮🇳 🇵🇰 culture it's evolved into a celebration when often the groom's family are also invited, usually a ladies only event.

1/SHAADI Update 5 - it was main event 3 of 6, the very important NIKKAH Ceremony. Follow my next blog for an update of all the festivities as part of my MEGA BRITISH ASIAN MUSLIM WEDDING BLOG 🧵 🎉 💕 2/Refer to Blog 1 for terminology but NIKKAH comes from Arabic referring to the marriage contract. In our case the official ceremony took place at Glasgow Central Mosque.

1/SHAADI update 4,next 🧵of my MEGA BRITISH ASIAN MUSLIM WEDDING BLOG.Event 2/6,the DUA (prayer). An informal event with family & friends of both the bride and groom. No singing & dancing 🎶 at this one 😀 but a lovely get together. Check out some of the main points 👇🏽 2/A fairly simple event held at home but still special so requires a little dressing up ✨ I wore a dress that was gifted to me by my pal (groom's mum) as it's traditional for the aunties of the groom to receive new clothes during the wedding, a very sweet tradition.

1/SHAADI blog 3 - Brit Asian Muslim wedding. 1st event took place last night. The DHOLKI, as discussed in my blog 1 post was a mega colourful fun event. 1/ SHAADI BLOG 2 all about clothes. Us Asians are seriously serious abt clothes for the wedding! More sparkle the better ✨ So will set out 👇🏽 the kinds of gear traditionally worn in British Asian Muslim weddings.Expect lots of colour,variety of materials & exquisite embroidery. 2/Let's do the male attire 1st. 1st & most smart imo is the SHERWANI, a very formal suit.Lots of different types & embroidery designs. Some say the name comes from the Azerbaijan area & also designed similar to what the Mughals (1500s-1800s) wore in pre-partion India.

1/SHAADI update 1 -my blog on British Asian Muslim Weddings starts. Festivities start tmrw with 6 main events planned over 2 weeks.Will begin with an explanation of some terminology & their origins, so get comfy and here we go 🎉👇🏽Also happens to be my anniversary today-throwback 2/SHAADI - means wedding. Term used in Urdu/Hindi but it's origins are Persian. From the word "shaad" which means to rejoice. Shaadi mubarak therefore means Happy Wedding or Congratulations on your wedding.
