🤓 How about some good old fashioned science from the midnight shift? If you're around the Philly metro or adjacent areas of S NJ or SE PA, you may have noticed the shallow snowpack beginning to slowly fade away despite temps being too cold for any melting. Why is this? (1/5) Change of phase diagram for water, including terms to describe the changes between different phases. This is due to a lesser known change of phase called sublimation, when ice (or any solid substance) changes directly into water vapor (or the gaseous phase).
