I am horrified and disgusted with the antisemitism being spewed at and around the Columbia University campus. Hate has no place in our city, and I have instructed the NYPD to investigate any violation of law they receive a report about and will arrest anyone found to be breaking the law. We will not be a city of lawlessness, and those professional agitators seeking to seize the ongoing conflict in the Middle East to sow chaos and division will not succeed.

We've begun to see another surge of migrants arriving. We expect this to intensify over the coming days as a result of @GovAbbott's cruel and inhumane politics.

Just last week, 14 chartered buses with migrants arrived in one night, with hundreds more arriving every day. (1/5) Today, we’re proud to stand with @ChicagosMayor Brandon Johnson and Denver Mayor @MikeJohnstonCO to do our part to confront this national crisis.

But cities cannot continue to do the federal government's job for them. (2/5)

Two years ago, New York City was the epicenter of the pandemic, but thanks to New Yorkers getting vaccinated and getting boosted in record numbers, the fight may not be over, we’re clearly winning the war. We are open for business and New York City has its groove back. Starting Monday, March 7, we will be suspending the Key to NYC requirements. Proof of vaccination will no longer be required for indoor venues like restaurants, bars, gyms and entertainment venues. Business owners will be allowed to require vaccinations if they so choose.

You demanded serious policing reform in New York City.

We heard you.
We acted.

Today the NYPD Accountability Package becomes law. Here’s what it does: The use of chokeholds in New York City are banned, and will now be enshrined into local law.

Saying “I hear you” is not enough. Here’s what I’m doing right now to make our city more just: The next City budget will shift resources from the NYPD to youth initiatives and social services. We know we can do that without stepping away from our responsibility to keep this city safe.

Giving young people positive options HELPS make this city safer.

Because of YOUR efforts, we’re getting closer to Phase 1 of our restart. Based on the trends we’re seeing in the data, Phase 1 can begin in the first half of June.

Restarting won’t mean back to normal — we CAN’T rush back. We need to keep this virus in check. Phase 1 will include:

➡️ Construction
➡️ Manufacturing
➡️ Wholesalers
➡️ Nonessential retail like clothing stores. Purchases will be restricted to curbside or in-store pickup only.

Right now we’re getting 11,000 hotel rooms ready to help New Yorkers quarantine and protect their families. We’re focusing on people in overcrowded homes who live with elders so they can better isolate themselves if they contract COVID-19.

We've ALWAYS been home to creativity and entrepreneurship — New Yorkers get things done. And the COVID-19 crisis is no different.

We still need federal support, but we aren’t waiting for it. We're manufacturing what we need right here in New York City. I spoke on Sunday about the need for more face shields. Today I can tell you that by the end of April, @BklynNavyYard will be producing 465,000 a week.

The goal after will be 620,000 made every week right here at home. That will make New York City self-sufficient.

Today I announced we will close @NYCSchools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

This is a public health decision — and not an easy one. But it's the right one. The social distancing strategies have been working, and we cannot risk a resurgence of the virus. Our health experts believe this is the safest, best approach. I spoke to Dr. Anthony Fauci from the NIAID last night, and he agreed keeping schools closed was important to protecting New Yorkers.

We still have a long road ahead in this crisis.

We CANNOT expect things to go back to normal anytime soon. We CANNOT let up on our strategies. The only way we make progress is if we double down on what’s working and flatten the curve of this epidemic. If we keep social distancing we can steadily push back this disease and open the door to a different phase when things will get better. We have to fight for it.

We will NOT jump the gun or relax restrictions before it’s safe. But we will get to the next phase together.

We have a tough fight ahead. New York City needs a staggering amount of equipment and personnel to meet this crisis and save every life we can.

15,000 more ventilators
45,000 more medical personnel
65,000 more hospital beds
We believe we can do it — IF we get the help we need. The next big test comes next week. We'll need 2,500-3,000 ventilators. It will be a matter of life and death in our hospitals.

We have new guidance for New Yorkers:

We're advising New Yorkers to wear a face covering when you go outside and near others. It can be a scarf, a bandana or one you make at home. But PLEASE: save medical masks for our health care workers & first responders who truly need them. This is a new precaution our health experts recommend based on evidence published in the last 24 hours.

It doesn’t replace social distancing. We want you to keep that 6-foot distance from others we’ve been talking about!

We expect the fight against COVID-19 to be a long one.

I wish that wasn't the case for New York City, but right now we are looking at months.

We expect April to be tougher than March, and May to be tougher still. I hear people like the President talk about getting back to work, getting back to normal in a few weeks.

Normal won’t be possible if our health care system is being overwhelmed and lives are being lost.

I thank @NYGovCuomo for issuing his Executive Order. This WILL save lives. We have to sharply limit non-essential activity to flatten the curve and slow the spread of this pandemic. It's a race against time and every second is vital.

New Yorkers, do your part: STAY HOME. Do your part. We need you to REALLY limit the people you come in contact with. Anything non-essential MUST be postponed. If you need to go outside, practice social distancing and stay six feet apart from other people. Don’t linger, don’t be outside longer than necessary.

Today we’re making an urgent appeal: our health care system is bracing for what’s to come. We need every available medical professional who can serve. We’re activating the 9,000 licensed and retired workers in the Medical Reserve Corps to come forward. The message is simple: if you're a health care worker with appropriate training, your city needs you now. Go to nyc.gov/helpnownyc to join this fight.

Our lives are all changing in ways that were unimaginable just a week ago. We are taking a series of actions that we never would have taken otherwise in an effort to save the lives of loved ones and our neighbors. Now it is time to take yet another drastic step. The virus can spread rapidly through the close interactions New Yorkers have in restaurants, bars and places where we sit close together. We have to break that cycle. Tomorrow, I will sign an Executive Order limiting restaurants, bars and cafes to food take-out and delivery.

Today, we made the painful decision to suspend classes in all NYC public schools, beginning tomorrow March 16. We’re going to begin remote digital learning on Monday March 23, and we’ll do everything in our power to help our kids through this. We know hundreds of thousands of kids depend on our schools for their meals. We’ll have grab and go breakfast and lunch available at all school buildings starting tomorrow.

We know the COVID-19 crisis feels like it changes by the hour. It’s been a sobering week, but we saw signs today that every level of government is putting more into this fight. Here are the latest updates on COVID-19 in New York City:

As of today we have 154 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. We have 29 people in mandatory quarantine and 1,747 in voluntary isolation.

To help halt the community spread of COVID-19, I’ve declared a state of emergency in New York City.

There are a lot of rumors at a time like this, so here are the simple facts: We have 95 confirmed cases of COVID-19. We know that’s going to grow quickly. We are taking new precautions that every New Yorker will feel in their daily lives.

Here are the latest updates on COVID-19 in New York City:

We can confirm there are 16 new COVID-19 cases as of March 10th, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in New York City to 36. As we enter the community spread stage of COVID-19, we're asking New Yorkers to make more adjustments to daily life. Keep using the common sense tactics — wash your hands frequently with soap and water, avoid touching your face, monitor your health and if you feel sick STAY HOME. A graphic on coronavirus. New Yorkers should take steps like washing hands often with soap, covering your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing, not touching your face, not shaking hands, staying home and calling your doctor if you're sick with coughing, sneezing, fever, shortness of breath and sore throat and don't improve within 24 to 48 hours.
