What I’ve learnt in the last 18 months (actually several years) of the churn in my own life & of those around me. Only a handful of people matter, those who truly stand by you. Hold them dear. Most relish the downward spiral in lives of others. The real thing to look at is not why X film is there and why Y ain’t. Real issue is the prohibitive fee that producers have to pay for staking a claim at being official Oscar entry for India (Rs 70000 + 18% tax)... Many may not consider it worth it... Even if they were to get selected there is more money needed for marketing and pitching the film to the academy members ...
