Key jangling shit. I like how they can't even keep them silent, they have to keep fucking talking the whole time. What is it with modern Western animation and mindlessly using money shots like Leo's sword going through the gap only for the impact to be limp after that buildup. It's like if Goku's gut punch to Freeza in the anime was directed the same way but still treated like a regular blow

The Shin-chan dub should get a Ghost Stories-level treatment of awful dubs now cuz this is just shit. And I don't care if they "needed" to do this gag dub of a comedy anime for marketing reasons, it's still shit by any metric. I know the story is that they couldn't market the anime to either kids or adults in the US cuz Shin-chan exposes his wiener a lot. But like, they switched the episode order around anyway. They fucking switched segments too.

The actual most insane part of this tweet is the fact that he genuinely means this. It's not a bit he's doing. He's actually saying Family Guy fights are better than something like Goku vs. Vegeta. The replies saying "The use of props and the environment are the reasons why these other fights are better" are awful too. Just a bunch of midwit pseud shit about action that they only halfway understand but decide this one style is the right way to do it.

Between 1 and 3, it's hard for me to pick the best because 1 has the best story. Alex and Marty's relationship and chemistry really elevate the story of what'd already be a good comedy. But 3's animation is much more improved from 1. 1's animation is good but it often feels like it's missing some frames compared to 3. Just compare DuBois to the lady who beat up Alex. SHe moves so much funnier than her.

I think the only added scene that needed to be trimmed down was the colony getting infected cuz it's treated as a surprise anyway, otherwise the movie feels like it loses some polish without the scenes about Ripley's daughter, etc. Ripley and Hicks telling each other their first names is a great bit that I'm surprised was cut out of the original cut. It's a great scene that establishes the respect Hicks has for Ripley and the scene feels like it's missing something without it in the OG cut.

So the only major changes are the scene where Dallas is cocooned, the Xenomorph swatting away Jonesy's cage, seeing what happens to Brett and them finding him getting attacked and the reaction to Ripley not wanting to let them in. It also heavily trims the conversation Ripley has with Dallas about Ash for some reason? Like, they don't talk about how long Dallas has worked with Ash. The scene just stops halfway through.

Watching this in the context of how the sequels turned out, it's funny how the first movie is just a very simple story and then World's End is like an hour longer and is more convoluted than what people say a Metal Gear plot is. Also very weird how they changed stuff for the sequels. They made a point that Elizabeth was just better as a more diplomatic person and the sequels made her a pirate. And then she stayed a governor at the end.

Why is it that everything that describes itself as counterculture like you guys eventually drops the ball and goes Oh no, don't do that! That's not heckin' chungus!" Literally the only counterculture person that actually stayed that way and stuck to his guns is Glenn Danzig. Nobody else (at least not one that I can think of) hasn't become lame at some point in their life.

I totally get why they'd wanna make a John Wick Cinematic Universe even putting aside the worldbuilding cuz the movies really are the perfect excuse for people to watch AAA blockbuster movies with legit great action for once. And even aside from that, I'd actually wanna watch that show they're making about Winston. But at the same time, if that doesn't put a huge focus on the action, you just took out part of John Wick's appeal. And if there is action, you need good directors like Stahelski and Leitch

It's funny how people think the staff actually like Sonic instead of just being aware of some scenes through cultural osmosis on the Internet. They got the monoeye thing down but the homage doesn't feel genuine at all. It feels like they just skimmed through the wiki instead of actually liking Sonic.

Is there a reason modern TV shows have a tendency to have overt sex scenes? I just think it's odd how Iron Man in 2008's sex scene was the least classy thing you could show and then fast forward to 2011, suddenly Homeland and Game Of Thrones would just shot nudity. Like, I dunno, think of the prestige TV shows before or hell, their contemporaries where they either don't have them or are less gratuitous and are still well liked now too. More well liked than them too even.

I get why people think The Wall review is the worst Nostalgia Critic video ever and yeah, there's a lot of things wrong with it as a video. But speaking as someone who still likes NC, purely from a critique standpoint, I think the Raimi Spider-Man and Matrix reviews are worse. Like, it's not even a bias thing. Nobody likes those reviews at all. Everybody hated those videos day 1. And he just missed the point so badly he otherwise didn't with the Batman videos. He got Problem Child and Willy's Wonderland fine but he couldn't get Spider-Man and Matrix.

Honestly, this isn't technically bad for what it is but you can tell it's a lot less funny than any comedy scene in Trigun because of the way Vash moves here. Vash flailed around a lot like a goofy cartoon in the OG too but the specific way Stampede does it is more boring. Like, it just seems to default to "Vash flailing around like an idiot=funny" when there's more thoughtful direction put into that in the OG.

The whole debate about if Disney is more or less mature than other cartoons is gonna turn gay so I'll just say it shouldn't really matter too much as long as it's good. That, and honestly I think the Disney worldview is just gonna be different from Fleischer's or Looney Tunes'. Like, sure Disney is really family friendly and kiddy but like I said a while back even old Disney could just get mean in ways a lot of their contemporaries wouldn't.

I just realized. Back then, if you had a really successful superhero movie, you turned a comic book character into a household name overnight. Or in Spider-Man and Batman's case, even more of a household name. But can most people nowadays name most MCU characters? Like, I dunno. People can name everyone in the first iteration of the Avengers. Can't say the same for the second. Sure, I think people can name everyone in Guardians of the Galaxy except Gamora but nobody's gonna be like "I KNOW WHO SHANG-CHI IS".

While I understand part of the appeal of Robocop is the satire and dark humor, gotta be honest, I think it was for the best the remake just took itself more seriously even if it flopped. Even the black suit doesn't look that bad tbh even if the original is better. Like, in this day and age, let alone 2014, I cannot imagine how bad the satire would've been under the hands of worse writers and directors. I straight up think they'd just be disinterested in all the emotion of the original. So everyone just acts like that commercial guy.

It rules how while every CA member who left is some kind of weird, lame or crazy far left dude, the black guy on Nostalgia Critic is just some normal dude who also happens to be a furry. Like, he had his own speech about black representation on the Princess and the Frog review and he was very normal about the whole thing. It also clearly came from his own mouth and not someone else's.

Since I'm on a kick on Japanese movies, actually watching them really makes the Chainsaw Man anime director seem that much more pretentious, holy shit. Like, bro. You don't have the right to compare yourself to the movies when a lot of Japanese movies aren't color graded to be desaturated as fuck like the Chainsaw Man anime was. A lot of them just use natural colors like Ring. Why did you think desaturation was good for it?

I will say that as glad as I am anime has been so widely distributed, it's also caused the unintended side effect of most people ignoring the Japanese live-action media. I get why, a lot of the time they just aren't distributed or promoted as much but I do think you lose a lot of cultural context or just miss out on good stuff you just don't see get brought up online. Even stuff that's really influential like Sukeban Deka.

This sounds like a joke tweet but honestly, this makes it sound cooler than all the previous Avatar series. "Do you not like Avatar?"
No. I don't care for either franchise, not even the one that's OK to like.

So I watched the Korean remake of Jin-Roh, Illang and it's really interesting. If you just watch it having never heard or saw Jin-Roh before, you'd probably think it's a fine action movie. But it really is just a lot inferior to Jin-Roh. Like, the movie just begins with an exposition dump, something Jin-Roh never did, at least this overtly. Granted, at least they changed a lot of background details to fit like changing the setting from alt history post-WWII Japan to near future Korea.
