Speak to Sadiq live now @LBC with @mrjamesob

What did you feel when you heard what Lee Anderson said about you?

"I've had a number of emotions... sad, angry, frustrated, appalled, heart-broken. A lot of different emotions.

"People who I think should no matter have not called it what it is. If someone says it's wrong, I'd assume it's wrong, unacceptable... because we all accept it's racist, islamophobic, and anti-Muslim.

"My heart break is because people we look to for leadership... haven't provided it. I mean Sunak, the deputy PM, the Cabinet." Khan: "Why is anti-Muslim hatred any less serious than [anti-semitism?] I thought we had made progress since 2016.

"The conservations I've had over the last week saying, there's no way I'll encourage my loved one to get into politics if that's how you are treated.

"I don't want be the main character, play the race card, the Muslim card. But Sunak's had a million opportunities to call it out for what it is. It's racist.

"The tropes about Muslims are basically... Muslims taking over London, the Islamification of society. The phrase 'Londonistan' is a reflection of those conspiracy theories. Sleeper cells. This man articulated all those tropes. It's clearly Islamophobic. Why I'm angry - the Tories have tried to deflect this with an argument about the definition of Islamophobia."

Boris uses his first UK based post PM speech in London to defend freedom of speech, Roald Dahl and James Bond

"We should remember how lucky we are to live in a country and culture where speech and thought are so free" Boris warns the British Museum not to give Elgin marbles back to Greece and says it will open up claims from all over the world

"In trying to please the world and correct thinking - You will deprive the world of its great treasures"

Hearing that Jacob Rees Mogg is expected to take on the role of business secretary *and* the junior minister's responsibilities of energy and climate change later today

Word is at least two Tories have turned down the jr role which would have worked closely with him Rishi-backer Greg Hands is getting cleared out after his summer attacks on Team Truss - apparently they haven't asked him to stay.

Sounds like concerns about JRM's climate views have left her unable to fill it

NEW: Liz Truss is expected to freeze energy bills as soon as Thursday

Sources familiar with the talks say wholesale price cap on the cards until January - with option to extend

Huge package that could be worth £100bn...

thesun.co.uk/news/19716648/… Final mechanisms still being ironed out but sounding like borrowing the money to fund anything above the freeze - with levy on households to pay it back over time

PM pretty punchy on climate from his remarks to UN climate round table: "I’m increasingly frustrated that the “something” to which many of you have committed is nowhere near enough.
... PM: "It is the biggest economies in the world that are causing the problem, while the smallest suffer the worst consequences.

the gulf between what has been promised, what is actually being delivered, and what needs to happen… it remains vast. "
