A pastor belongs at home every night, sleeping next to his wife.

It’s time to kill the conference circuit. Some clarifications:

1. I’m not saying pastors should never travel or speak anywhere. But we ought to recognize the strain that extensive travel puts on a marriage.

When I was a newer believer, I knew that I lacked spiritual understanding and needed faithful teachers who could help me understand the Christian faith.

I was reading my Bible every day, but needed help understanding many of the doctrines and their application to my life. 🧵 I decided to research and assemble what I was referring to as my “cloud of witnesses”—leaders and teachers who could help me understand my faith and grow in godliness.

And so, I began to scour the Internet, listen to sermons, read books, and ask for recommendations from others.

Thread on writing, publishing, & promoting:

I’ve been writing seriously for about 5 years now. I’ve worked with 4 publishers, as well as self-published.

I’m not an expert on any of this, but I often get questions, so I figured I would try and offer some encouragement. WRITING:

One of the best ways to become a writer is to write.

Sounds silly, but it’s totally true. It’s important to carve out time regularly to practice writing and honing ideas.

I’ve got serious pastoral concerns about recent growing trends in Evangelicalism. In truth, it seems to fall under one complex, multi-faceted mechanism. Frankly, I’m not sure if using labels is helping or hurting. /1 We’re seeing terms like “social justice,” “Cultural Marxism,” “liberalism,” even “intersectionality.”
Advocates of this movement flatly reject these terms (perhaps they don’t subscribe to all the tenets of them), but we’re certainly seeing a noticeable movement in full force. /2
