Right now, OKC is among the hottest cities in the country. Around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, I packed a cooler with ice water and walked along the west edge of downtown to chat with people about the heat. I first ran into Daniel. He made it seem like summer heat is simply inevitable.

“I'm not gonna run from the heat. I work out here,” Daniel said. “But It impacts me because I have to be prepared to not dehydrate myself.”
