There’s a difference between being busy and building.

Here are 7 traits I’ve seen in every entrepreneur who plays the long game — and wins: 🧵 1) Clarity of vision.

They know exactly where they’re going — and why. Every move, hire, and risk aligns with that bigger picture.

This year I spent a lot more time abroad and got used to not tipping.

Got back to the US and had sticker shock every time I had to add +20% to my bill.

So I did some research, trying to answer the question–why are we one of the few places in the world with tipping? Turns out, we got tipping from Europe

There was a long history there of rich folks leaving a little extra for lower class service people.

In the 1800s, American tourism exploded in Europe.

Many travelers thought this was a commendable thing and wanted to bring it back.

Can someone help answer this for me?

Why does America’s trade school (vocational) system suck?

I’ve been trying to figure it out. Here’s what I found: America’s income distribution used to look like a triangle (mid 20th century).

Now it looks more like an hourglass.

In my opinion, the disappearance of trade schools is a big factor.

Want to know why people are struggling more than ever to get ahead?

And every year it seems to get worse?

A few charts that tell the story of how the last 50 years has broken the middle class: 1) Productivity has gone up, but wages have stayed flat. You do more, but you make less.

I develop real estate, own restaurants, invest in world class companies, play football and am a family man.

It's not easy to balance.

What I've learned from the world's top performers is that hustle culture has it all wrong.

Here’s the best way to survive being always on: It's about organization and not overworking yourself.

My 5 rules to managing a hectic life.

1) Have a prepared routine (live one day ahead)
2) Strict scheduling
3) Delegate as much as possible
4) Prioritize long term and work backward
5) Make room to recover

Sure tech is great, but what about frozen pizza?

Been doing some research into the industry for a deal. Wild stuff.

A $20bn market with massive (50% YoY) growth during the pandemic.

Bit-sized history of frozen pizza 🧵 First, a few things about the history of pizza I didn’t know:

1. Came to the US in the late 1800’s, but wasn’t popular until after WWII (soldiers back from Italy wanted it)

2. Before frozen pizza, people could buy refrigerated pizzas from their local pizzerias to take home

How you can get free money to buy your first home: Not a trick!

Just another public benefit program that people haven’t heard of: The National Homebuyers Fund (NHF)

The fund has been around since 2002 and has given out almost $400m to American home buyers.

You can put their funds toward your down payment or closing costs.

I never liked school that much, but I do love to learn.

Twitter is perfect for people like me.

A few of my favorite accounts I learn from every day 👇 @nbatalha is a planetary scientist.

Mainly, she shares news about planets outside our solar system.

It's not something I ever encounter in my daily life.

But science matters and learning about the universe is 🔥

We used to own the American dream, now we rent it.

Why it’s so hard to buy a home and what that means for us all 🧵 Home ownership has always been a huge part of the American dream.

It’s tied closely to the values that are fundamental to all of us.

Family, property, community, independence, etc.

But starting a family with even a small home is becoming out of reach for most.

Some advice from a guy that won’t be at the Super Bowl in two weeks.

Knowing how to process failure is one of the most important building blocks of success.

Thoughts on failing and how to use it for gains: First, I don’t believe in moral victories.

Winning and losing is straightforward. It’s one or the other.

You can do well or make a good effort, but if you come up short that’s still a loss.

And the only way to turn a loss into a win depends on what you do with that failure.

If you’re watching these crazy market swings, remember.

Long term thinking isn’t just about making money on stocks.

Zoom out enough and everything in life starts to look smoother.

Longs term is a framework that can help you stay sane when life gets hard: Remember that investing isn’t all about money.

Every gain you get in life comes from an investment. Some financial, but others emotional, mental, or physical.

In your relationships, your knowledge, your skills, experiences, or friendships.

Last week I announced my investment in @metaplex.

I’ve been pretty quiet on my involvement in the crypto space. I like to do my diligence.

But I have 100% conviction in this business.

@solana is a remake the world kind of company, here’s why: Markets go up, markets come down. I’m here for the long term.

Even with the recent correction, crypto is here to stay.

People will continue to use blockchain technology at increasing frequency.

Some for things we know, others for things we haven’t even thought of.

I’ve been involved in the hospitality industry for many years, both as an investor and operator.

It’s never been as bad as this.

Here’s what’s happening to restaurants you love.

💔🧵 The pandemic hit everyone hard, but restaurants struggled more than most.

How much more?

42% of independent restaurants who didn’t get government relief are in danger of filing for bankruptcy.

Even among those that did, 20% are in danger of going bankrupt.

As usual, a lot of people trying to get fit and healthy in the new year.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of bad advice out there.

I've been trying to optimize human performance most of my life. So, let me save you some time.

This is what really matters: First off, there’s never going to be one solution for everyone.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any truths.

After 10+ years competing at the highest levels of the NFL, you just learn.

Some things are universal.

There are some years that become a dividing line.

Life before and life after.

For me, 2021 was one of those years.

Truthfully, one of the most incredible of my life.

I want to share a few of the important things I learned: 1/ Patience is Paramount

The world’s been going through a rough time. A lot things aren’t like they used to be.

Getting through it all requires more patience that most of us are used to having.

More patience for others, for doing things differently, and for ourselves.

When you've been at it as long as me, you learn a thing or two.

10 principles for making every day better than the last: 1) Consistency

Trying to get fit? Grow your twitter following? Win a Super Bowl?

Show up every day, do what you got to do, and everything will come into place.

Nothing great gets achieved over night, it's all the little moments that build to the big ones.

Investing in stocks, startups, crypto, real estate, and whatever else can create a lot of wealth.

That's great.

But truly achieving happiness and success in life starts with one thing:

Investing in yourself 🧵 Our lives often get more hectic the more successful we become.

And it gets more difficult to justify taking the time and energy to invest in ourselves.

Instead we just focus on short term gains in our careers, often at the expense of ourselves.

This is a mistake.

I recently read a great piece on where the last 70 years of economic and psychological trends have landed us.

The headline? Massive inequality. Knew that.

But here are some surprise learnings about how we got here and why we're stuck 👇 The rapid rise in inequality is something that happened mostly in the last 35 years.

Before that, in the post war world, things became more equal.

The lifestyle of the middle class and the lifestyle of the wealthiest weren't too dissimilar.

Unfortunately, that caused issues.

Finding a good mentor can transform your life.

How to do it and why you need to: The complexities in our world aren't going away.

And successfully navigating life isn't something a Google search can solve for.

What helps is EQ, wisdom, understanding, and experience. People skills.

That's why I've sought out mentors to guide me through at every stage.

Over the last decade I've shadowed some of the best business minds on the planet.

From Warren Buffett to Stephen Ross, the one success framework they all share is "mailbox money".

It's a financial state of mind.

And here's how it sets you up for growth 🧵 The most successful business people usually have a very diversified portfolio.

For the ones I've spent time with, the pattern is the same.

1) Mailbox money businesses
2) Flashier influential businesses
2) Riskier bets that add multiples

My years in the NFL have been a blessing.

I've learned from the smartest and most talented people on the planet.

But...what if I didn't go pro and just had a normal career?

Here's the advice I'd give younger me to find happiness and success 🧵 1) Build relationships with purpose

Don't be afraid to find mentors. Everybody needs a guide.

Align yourself with like minded peers, who have long term goals that match yours.

Hard work gets you ahead, if it's shared with the right people.
