As we’re starting a new era of Doctor Who, I thought I would give new fans a potted history of previous doctors… The first doctor. The original. Fondly remembered for starting it all. It’s rumoured he butted heads with the production team and he was let go not entirely voluntarily. He was survived by his two young companions.

There’s always talk about how Douglas Adams influenced Dr Who, and I’ve been thinking about that a lot for obvious reasons, but there’s less talk about how Dr Who influenced Douglas. But here’s the thing - he only seems to have seen one Dr Who story... The Face of Evil. Everything Dr Whoey in Hitch-Hikers comes from that one story.
