I respectfully request to be excluded from any discussions related to Dr. Umar's initiatives. Given our institutions' few shared goals, I prioritize my time and focus on the children and managing our school, as we are tuition-free and not govt funded. Dr. Umar envisions a larger-scale project, while my focus lies in making a local impact through our tuition-free school and after-school program, which has grown significantly since its humble beginnings at my home, to now 40acres of land and a 41,000sqft school facility.

Last Sunday, I came to check on our school and everything was fine. We came to play basketball with our summer program students on Wednesday and saw a window was broken into.

I entered the building and heard noises. I’m seeing almost everything deliberately destroyed.

I held the intruders at gun point until the police arrived.

Sinks were pulled out of the walls, toilets smashed, glass busted everywhere, uniforms and merchandise destroyed, etc.

A few things were stolen but it was personal. They took a picture of me and threw it in the alley.

If I was, my students would be much better off. I want to eradicate our failed public school system where 80% of the children are AA. Teachers and children need it.

I teach any student to never be defeated. Using your logic, they’d still be battling depression and in YDC. It’s plenty of days where I sit and stress how we are gonna pay the bills for our students and I have to go work to make it happen. I funded this program years ago by painting houses, fixing cars, and cutting hair. I just refused to be defeated. Nobody knew me.

Black family molestation thread:

I just encountered another case of another troubled young man in my program, who’s just revealed he’d been being molested by his cousin and uncle growing up.

Incest is very common in the black community and we try to act like it’s a white thing. It’s crazy how everyone (literally) in my immediate circle (black), was molested at one point when they were a child, including myself.

Most happened with a family member.

What’s crazy is, the family usually knows and it never gets checked.
