I'm coming up to 1.5 years working at the science-policy interface for the UK Civil Service. What have I learnt about using evidence to inform policy? A thread Probably the first thing academics ask me is how they can get their research to inform policy, and why aren't policymakers listening.
1) policymakers are busy people
2) they need research findings in a digestible manner
3) they use a whole range of evidence - not just yours
