An excerpt from Milton Mayer's "They thought They were Free"
from the chapter titled, But Then It Was Too Late, Mayer's interview with Martin Niemoller.

I'm going to leave out the parts that are more or too specific to pre-WW2 Germany, or if i believe is less relevant. It's the interview from which the poem "First they came for..." comes from and it hold a lot more nuance, information and clarity of meaning that, most people who are only aware of the poem, are generally unaware of, but obviously should be.
