Incarceration for sex offenses:

Trans-identifying males: 47.94%
General BOP prison pop: 12.9%
Trans-identifying females: 7.19%

Trans-identifying males are almost FOUR TIMES as likely to be incarcerated for a sex offense as the gen'l prison pop (all men and women). 2/5

KPSS is non-partisan.
But ... three of the four candidates on the major party tickets for President and VP have an existing record of how they would address the issue of keeping prisons single sex.
We think you should know their records.
1. Trump, 2. Harris, 3. Walz.

1/13 The record of @realDonaldTrump on the issue of keeping prisons single sex:
President Obama's Bureau of Prisons issued a Transgender Manual.
The Trump administration revised it.
They were constrained by existing PREA regs, but here are some changes they made: 2/13 Image

🚨 Despite the disastrous results of the since-modified 2021 policy (multiple pregnancies, reports of assaults, absolutely petrifying men being housed with women), the NJ legislature is considering a law mandating prison housing according to self-declared "gender identity." 1/

The law would explicitly REMOVE Dept of Corrections' ability to take into account factors such as criminal history (rapists welcome) and likelihood of perpetrating abuse (all violent offenders welcome) and security threat levels. DOC could NOT review on a case-by-case basis: 2/ Image

In response to a FOIA request, KPSS has received a current (Aug 19, 2023) Transgender Inmate Report from 🇺🇸 Bureau of Prisons.
Let's break down some of the info on these pages.

Population numbers of inmates id'ing as "trans" in 🇺🇸 *federal* prison: According to BOP:

Oct. 2022: 1610 (1143 "M2F" // 467 "F2M")
Aug. 2023: 1980 (1295 "M2F" // 685 "F2M")

An almost 23% increase in less than one year.

The disproportionate increase in "F2M" is notable.

An update to the below 🧵 and a HEAD'S UP:
In 2024 there will be a voter referendum to enshrine "sex" and "gender identity" in the New York State Constitution. All single sex spaces, incl'g prisons, in New York could be deemed discriminatory and in violation of Constitution. 1/ The second step in the Constitutional Amendment process occurred January 2023. The NYS legislature passed the Amendment for the second time (in a separate session from the first time), which means it is on its way to a referendum by the voters in 2024. 2/ nyassembly.gov/Press/?sec=sto…

Yet again a murderously violent man who targeted women is being housed in a women's prison. Why is this particular placement so maddening and what can we do? 1/ Image First, the story, which many of you know, but some do not: In Nov 2016, widely-platformed "trans" activist Dana Rivers (formerly known as David Warfield) was arrested, covered in blood and gasoline, leaving the East Oakland, California home of Patricia Wright & Charlotte Reed. 2/

Incarcerated women in Minnesota will now be forced to share showers, toilets and sleeping quarters with this man. He won't be the last. Minnesota agreed to change its policies as part of this settlement. BUT that's not all... 1/ Image Minnesota taxpayers could be on the hook for surgery to create a hole where there is now a penis and breast implants should such surgeries not occur before his release date (which is in less than 1 year). 2/ Image

A companion Bill has been introduced in the New York State Senate. This version is, yes, even worse than the one in the Assembly. 1/ NY Senate Bill 2860 expands coverage beyond correctional facilities. In this version, incarcerated males can opt into any type of facility. This, presumably, includes forensic mental health facilities. So now we are housing mentally ill incarcerated men w/ mentally ill women. 2/ Image

NY State Assembly has reintroduced Bill from last legislative session to allow males to opt into women's prison based on self-declared "gender identity" only this time…it's even worse. Let’s walk through some low lights. 1/ The key provision of Bill introduced yesterday in NY State legislature remains the same: inmates are to be PRESUMPTIVELY housed in correctional facility which most closely aligns with their “gender identity” regardless of their sex. 2/

What's happened in 🇺🇸 prisons in the last few months?
As more & more males have been placed in women's prisons, predictably, there have been more reports of rapes, assaults, pregnancies, threats.

SOME GOOD NEWS! A FEDERAL INJUNCTION HAS BEEN ISSUED.
@POTUS's first day in office, he issued EO 13988. This directed fed agencies to revisit their rules & to reinterpret laws on "sex discrimination" to include "gender identity." Multiple agencies issued such guidance in 2021. 1/ Two examples of federal agencies acting on EO 13988: Dept of Education issued guidance that students are entitled to use school bathroom which aligns with their "gender identity." EEOC (which deals with discrimination in the workplace) issued similar guidance for employees. 2/

🚨 As of July 1, 2022, "gender identity" is on path to being enshrined in New York State Constitution. This would make it impermissible to "discriminate" a/k/a *segregate* on the basis of sex. This would include placement in prison housing based on self-declared gender ID. 🚨 1/ In response to recent SCOTUS decisions (particularly on guns & abortion), NY state legislature held a July 1 emergency session. A result: The passage of resolution of NYS Constitution amendment which provides for "gender identity" as constitutionally protected characteristic. 2/

Do your friends, family, associates find it hard to believe that there are males in women's prisons and jails in 🇺🇸?
Do they have assumptions about what sort of males these might be?
Here's some data. 1/14 There are males in women's prisons and jails in 🇺🇸 largely due to regulations under the Prison Rape Elimination Act, known as PREA Standards. While the Act itself did not contemplate cross-sex housing, the Standards (at 28 CFR 115.42(c)) almost casually reference it: 2/14

Let’s walk through the cross-sex prison housing bill being contemplated in New York State. It may not seem possible, but it seems to be the most outlandish bill yet proposed in the States. Here’s the link: legislation.nysenate.gov/pdf/bills/2021… 1/16 Unlike most U.S. proposed laws (inmate seeks preference for cross sex housing), the proposed New York State bill provides that individuals shall be “presumptively placed” in accordance with their “self-attested gender identity unless the person opts out of such placement.” 2/16

A new day, a new Exec Order. Let's look at Sec 11 which covers gender identity in the federal workforce:

(a) every fed employee is to have their "identities affirmed and respected" (compelled speech (pronouns) by the fed gvt?)

whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/… (b) "supportive services" are to be available for trans/NB employees who wish to legally, medically or socially transition
