In November 2020, a woman bravely contacted us for help.

It involved her partner.

For 18 months, he had been controlling her and subjecting her to multiple assaults.

In that time, he had burst her ear drum, pushed her down the stairs and fractured her ribs. As well as the physical abuse, he had repeatedly belittled her, told her that she should kill herself & would gaslight her to make her doubt what was actually happening.

He also prevented her from seeing friends & controlled her finances, dictating what she could spend & buy.

This week, a 28-year-old man was convicted of offences after he caused so much distress to his partner that she fell through a first-floor window trying to escape him.

Read that again.

This woman willingly jumped out of a window rather than having to face this guy. Can you imagine the level of fear it takes for someone to throw themselves out of a first-floor window?

But this is exactly what domestic abusers do to their victims – induce pure terror.

*A thread* (with photos) It all started with a routine traffic enquiry when a car pinged as having no insurance.

Our @Northants_RCT officers stopped the driver and turned out he had just literally bought cover that morning.

Then his wife called - she’d gone into labour!
