Advocates for increased immigration often argue that the way to end illegal entry is to change the law to admit everyone who wants to come to the U.S. Problem for them is that U.S. voters want less immigration. 2/5
Bc immigration expansionists cannot change law, they argue laws against illegal immigration should be effectively ignored, claiming human smuggling & trafficking would be reduced. They ignore (often deliberately) that cartels control border crossings from Mexico into U.S.

Despite border crisis driven by @POTUS promise of mass amnesty, House Democrats approved 2 bills yesterday that would grant amnesty to over 5 million illegal aliens. Adding millions mostly low-skilled, foreign workers while millions of Americans remain jobless during pandemic. American Dream & Promise Act passed 228-197 w/9 Repubs joining Dems in support. Would grant amnesty to over 3 million illegal aliens who claim to have entered U.S before age 19 or received TPS or DED. Would soon be eligible for green cards & could sponsor adult family members.

Democrats are pushing for more money for "Alternatives to Detention", which includes the use of community support programs and ankle bracelets. ICE told Congress that "Alternatives to Detention" cost U.S. taxpayers $75,000 per removal compared to only $1,600 for aliens kept in detention. Also said that aliens put into "Alternatives to Detention" are more likely to abscond.
