The main problem with Atomic Heart has nothing to do with "cancel culture". Whining "apolitical gamers" can just shut up; they are irrelevant.
It is rather about institutions. Atomic Heart was funded through Gazprom and Mailru, companies which are essential for Kremlin. Gazprom sells natural gas, providing Russia with money which it needs to continue spreading war and terror. But they also have had their hand in media for many years. At the very beginning of 2000s, Gazprom was used to destroy the then-oppositional Russian TV Channel NTV.

Long thread about Russian view of fascism and antifascism.
The whole world is somehow surprised by Russia misusing the word "nazism". Not only Ukraine: even Sweden was branded as a "nazi country", alongside the whole NATO alliance. It sounds like the ravings of a madman, but only if you don't understand the Russian view of nazism and the WW2 in general. First of all, there was no WW2 for Russian mass consciousness. There was just "Great Patriotic War". 22.06,1941 till 09.05.1945

The most significant achievement of Russian propaganda was to persuade people in Russia as well as abroad that Putin was a highly intelligent man and a good strategist. No, his is not. Putin is a terrible strategist and even a bad tactician. He is simply not clever. He is a successful careerist, it is true. He knows how to achieve and hold power. But he is not able to do anything else.

German policies towards Russia were defined not by some "guilt complex" about WWII and not by pacifism. This explanation just sounds nice. "Yes, we have made some stupid decisions, but it is because we are good people!"
No. German Russophilia is not a product of guilt; it is not a manifestation of pacifism. It is even not entirely about greed and profit. It is about imperialism. We can even talk about "imperial", not "imperialistic" way of thinking.
