What’s happening in Israel? Please read and share this thread that I wrote to help clarify the dramatic (and complicated) events that threaten to turn Israel into a dictatorship in a matter of weeks 👇 It’s hard to navigate Israeli politics so I included in my thread parts from the summary statement of the law professors’ democracy forum @lawprofsforum

Here’s a wild story on how we tried to piece the Dead Sea Scrolls “puzzle” by sequencing ancient DNA extracted from the animal skins on which the scrolls were written. Please read the @CellCellPress paper, retweet and checkout my short thread👇 cell.com/cell/fulltext/… When I just joined @TelAvivUni I went to a retreat for young PIs. On the bus, on our way to dinner, I set by chance next to another new recruit, the biblical scholar Noam Mizrahi, expert Dead Sea Scrolls researcher. One thing led to another and..

My conclusion from avoiding using slides in my last two talks (normally I squeeze 2-3 slides *per minute*):

Regardless of whether this way of presenting is better or worst for getting the message across, it’s much more fun and invigorating. It actually makes you think on stage. ..and also: in some fields, like computer science (I think that) giving a talk is like publishing a paper. So obviously the talk should have all the data and “proofs”. But in biology only papers “count”. So I don’t think talks should be constructed like papers (2/3)👇

Hot off the press!! Read our @CurrentBiology paper on how disrupting germ granules leads to multigenerational deviations from Mendelian inheritance. Crazy heritable small RNA-mediated effects.. Link to Paper A thread (1/4):
cell.com/current-biolog… First, congrats to @itamar_lev @Toker_IA @YaelMor3!
We preprinted this work in March & a few days ago our results were already confirmed by two other pre-prints in @biorxivpreprint ! (Dodson from the Kennedy lab, Ouyang from the Seydoux lab). Pre-prints accelerate science! (2/4)

🔥🔥 New Pre-Print! 🔥🔥 We discovered that stress re-sets transgenerational small RNA inheritance in C.elegans. Read how worms change their epigenetic plans when they no longer fit their environment. A thread (1/13)👇 #molecularmemories
biorxiv.org/content/10.110… First, huge congrats to @LeahHouri, @GuyTeichman and Hila Gingold!! It’s a pleasure to see lab members work so well in a team. (2/13)👇

💥🎉 FINALLY! Our paper is out! 💥🎉 @CellCellPress We discovered that the nervous system of C.elegans transmits information via small RNAs across multiple generations to control the behavior of the progeny. A thread 👇👇(1/17) #molecularmemories
cell.com/cell/fulltext/… First, I’d like to congratulate @rlipo2 & @Toker_IA the amazing PhD students that led the work. This was an multi-person extreme effort, many years of very hard work. This beautiful illustration was drawn by Beata Edyta Mierzwa @beatascienceart (2/17) 👇
