At 6:16am, I responded to my first call of the day. A homeless man, w/ an active felony warrant. He went to a church for help & was turned away. He then asked for the police to arrest him. He’s battling an addiction; alcohol & drugs. When asked why jail he said he went to - 1/4 the ARCH & another place w/o any luck. Downtown Austin, “tent city (as he called it) is a MESS. You have ppl who are addicted to meth, kush, cocaine, and alcohol and everyone has their hustle going on, trying to get their next fix.” He said he didn’t have another option, but jail
