Today was a fantastic day in Narvik. I went to see a plateau I've read a lot about in texts about the assault on the mountain above the town.

A company of the Foreign Legion and a Norwegian battalion came across the fjord, supported by land and naval artillery. They went over a tunnel roof, but their slow advance was stopped at this little open ground. Blue circle is the allied position. Red is German.

The drawing in the previous post is from the other side of the open ground that you can see in my photo.

Yesterday I finished my first playthrough of my campaign for Chain of Command by @TooFatLardies about the liberation of Narvik in 1940. @FWorthingham and @johnsav06196556 were so kind to play it all the way to the end with me.

Thread... ImageImage The campaign started with the Foreign Legion disembarking at Ornes under cover of heavy bombardement by the British warships and French and Norwegian batteries at 0100 hours.

Facing them was a reduced platoon of German naval ratings, and the French managed to take Ornes.
