One year ago, @fisheriesSOM signed MoU with China Overseas Fisheries Association and granted 31 fishing licenses to fish inside Somali EEZ. This is ⬇️ what happens when greed, bad negotiation, corruption, and neocolonialism all meet together. I am not surprised sadly. (thread) /1

1/1 Do you know that #7 of the Chinese vessels recently granted fishing licences had already involved fishing illegally in Somali waters. Here is the investigation conducted in 2015 by the FISH-i Africa fish-i-africa.org/wp-content/upl…1/2 #6 vessels named LU QING YUAN YU followed by the numbers #101, #102, #105, #106, #107 and #108, and the XIN SHI JI #85.
