As #tech sold off in the last 2 weeks, there were still places that were resilient during this time period. Whether tech gets through the consolidation phase or breaks lower, time will tell.

Meanwhile few ideas on longs and shorts going forward. 1/
On the long side, equity exposure in #transports, #materials and int'l mkts like #Germany and #Korea worked well. Exposure in these areas continues to stay bullish.

Vols are showing upticks as well, so should stay careful.

What’s happening to #Tech stocks and the markets in September 2020 and what is #FED really worried about - is the #Equities or #Bonds ?

Markets never work in a straight line up or straight line down , every market has to go through a period of correction/consolidation to resume
its journey

NASDAQ was a overbought market in June to August 2020 , but we are not in any serious trouble to disturb the long term bullish trend and why ?

Because Credit Market hasn’t broken down yet , while the media and investors are focused in the Equity markets ,
it’s the BOND MARKET WHICH FED IS MORE WORRIED about

The QE program was more about buying

1) US Sovereign bonds, called Treasuries

2) US Municipal Bonds

3) US Corporate Bonds

Happy Friday folks!!

Here is a bright, shiny new trade deal for you as a gift wrapped #Brexit present from our friends in #Japan 🎎🇯🇵🏮🏯

Remainers said we couldn't get a better deal than the #EU

Here's why they were wrong...(again)

[THREAD]

gov.uk/government/new…
[1] Digital is the future and this is streets ahead of the EU deal in that respect. There is an increased level of data recognition & a ban on data localisation, which will prevent UK businesses from having the extra cost of setting up servers in Japan. Huge for our #Tech sector.
[2] Financial services are our biggest export to Japan, accounting for 28% of all UK exports. This deal provides increased access for our invaluable Financial Services industry and much deeper regulatory co-operation - something the #EU wouldn't allow.

Another #tech bubble? There’s a lot of talk about the FANG mega-cap #growth companies leading the market, just like 2000. The #tech companies’ narrow leadership of the #SPX is a big reason perma-bears are hating on the #market. Right or wrong? Let’s take a closer look. (THREAD)
1/ In 1999 I did a deep dive on the top darling stocks to compare the lopsided leadership of the late 1990s to the early to mid-1970s. Earlier, during the 1960s, the cyclical #bullmarket from Oct. 1966 to Nov. 1968 produced a huge bubble in retail speculation.
2/ #Tech & space companies were big favorites. Then came the #recession of 1970 & a painful bear market that wiped out speculators. During that decline & recovery, institutional investors dominated the #stockmarket & were buying tried-and-true stocks with bulletproof #earnings.

Attending @FboroFriday, we're inspired by #aerospace industry leaders and know one thing for certain: the future of aerospace is all about collaboration 🤝

Thanks for having us #FIAConnect!

After an insightful week at @FIAFarnborough, we wanted to share a few of our highlights:
We really enjoyed the #sustainability in #aerospace session: Dr Cristina Garcia-Duffy, Head of Technology – Strategy and Integration at @UKAeroInstitute, shared the ATI market outlook and the aircraft that will be coming into the market between 2020 and 2040+ ✈️🌱
Adefunke Adeyemi @IATA#25by2025 ensures better female representation in senior roles. We wanted an intentional approach from the industry and for the c-suite to walk the talk. At a 2019 EU #aviation event, 30 CEOs of 30 #airlines committed to the initiative" #WomenInAerospace

This book arrived yesterday, yet it’s today that I’m 😭 tears of joy & appreciation as I hold it. It’s sinking in — the effort that underlies this piece, both professionally & personally. I’d like to share a bit b/c it may resonate for you as you prep for teaching this Fall.
The root of this is from my own math upbringing. I wasn’t good at it, or so I thought. My dad would have none of that. He was relentless in his guidance & relearned calculus to help me. This parallels some identical thoughts about my teaching ability many years later.
He (& my mom) made me live growth mindset daily. So naturally, when I saw this fixed mindset in my own students I wondered what I could do to help them see they had what it took to succeed —with the right effort & hard work, i.e., practice— learning #stats was within their grasp.

Thread on the case for investing in #data analytics and why could be good way to capture #investor value
The amount of data being generated in our society today is mind bending.

In 2010, Google CEO Eric Schmidt famously put this in perspective:

"Every two days now we create as much information as we did from the dawn of civilization up until 2003"

That was in 2010!
How far have we come in the last 10 years? In the last two years alone, astonishingly 90% of the world’s #data has been created (Source: IORG).

IDC forecasts that there will be a 10 fold increase in the amount of data on the planet by 2025.

Project 3: Ginty's Goggles

In collaboration with the tissue viability team @NNUH, this 360-degree video based #simulation experience gave users the opportunity to gain a one-to-one tutorial with an experienced educator #VR #tech

More information below...
2. This project aimed at improving accessibility to high quality #meded, using an innovative but immersive approach. It was simple, but impactful, and is fully scalable to provide trust wide (or even further reaching) training on an important topic - the skin assessment
3. For editing, to improve educational value, I used simple titles and pictures overlaid onto the 360 spherical video using adobe premiere pro. For interactivity, we used pause points to get users to complete relevant documentation on the assessment they had just witnessed.

Recently, we published a policy report to call for a systemic change for 🇪🇺 to better address global challenges through #ScienceDiplomacy multilateral responses. But there are diplomatic stoppers, warnings, and drivers. Here, a 🧵to explain them! s4d4c.eu/calling-for-a-…
🔴#Diplomacy Stopper 1⃣: Nationalisms, protectionisms & populisms. Crises in the EU (euro crisis, migration, Brexit, Euroscepticism, COVID19) affect integration. Permanent Structured CoOperation may promote EU member state cooperation, in #SciDip too? pesco.europa.eu
🔴 #Diplomacy Stopper 2⃣: Socio-political fractures in the EU. Current economic, societal, and ideological fractures exist between North/South, and West/East, which makes both advancing in the European project and ensuring multilateral responses harder.
