I spent 3 hours today at Centenary Bank trying to rectify an issue of an ATM card that can't be read. After 3 hours, I was informed that the chip was damaged and the option was to replace the card. Then the Squid games started.

The Bank was out of VISA cards. The Second option was to apply for a Master Card. Again, this would take about 5 days before I could get this card.

I requested for the Third Option of Closing my account. They said I would have to write to apply to the Bank Manager with proper justification.

The biggest dilemma in the world is that almost none of us has a grasp of time. We don't understand time. We are rarely in sync with time. Yet, timing is everything!

We are fast when we should be slow. We are slow when we should be fast. We panic when we should be calm. When we should party, we hold back. When we should fight, we run. When we should run, we fight. When we should commit mistakes, we act holy. When we should rebel, we surrender. When we should surrender, we fight.

Ours is a fight against time. Working with time not against it!

There are rules of Power. One of the rules of power is that power is always consolidated among a tiny minority. In every place, in every system, in every organisation, there is always a handful of people that make all the decisions, that run the processes, that design the rules! Whenever you go to a new place, it is your duty to know this tiny minority. Often times this minority will mask themselves, they will be veiled. But always remember the world is made up of people and everything in this world was once just an idea in someone's head. Every rule!

I fell in love with Ray G at first sight. Since then, I have always hoped that the gods would bring him to Kampala. As they often say, the gods will always listen to one of their own. Ray G is in Kampala today. And I have no other excuse, but to be part of this story. We've had very many bad memories, very many sad stories, but we are making a way.

Today we are determined to change our story. From now on, "Tukozese emikono nomutwe obare. Turwanise obukyene bya nyenkyakare."

The Ray is over us today...

We are very lucky to still have Lord Fred Ssebatta in our midst. He is that one Kadongo-kamu artiste that dedicated entire albums to ensuring we can all have thriving relationships and marriages. He is not just a teacher, he is also a counselor and spiritual awakener. There is something special about Ssebatta, he sang in cryptic. He dedicated an entire album: "Etaala Y'obufumbo" and on this he gave us the magnificent Gologoosa song.

When I was younger, I had no idea about the message in Gologoosa. He hid all the secrets in that song.

I believe in Jesus the idea, the possibility of what's possible beyond the limits we assign to ourselves. I believe in Christ Consciousness, that at the start of everything is love, that the best things are created from the field of love. The best art has been inspired by love. I believe in Christ as an ideal, in the possibility that if we follow the same route, if we circumvent temptation, we can all attain this Christ Consciousness.

And to a man with Christ Consciousness, there's nothing out of his reach. He becomes one with the creator.

A friend told me something that radically transformed how I think about most things in life. She said; "there's always a professional way to do everything in life. Aim for that professional way. It's the magic." I have been rethinking almost every thing in my life. I now always ask myself; "What's the professional way to parenting? What's the professional way of organizing an event?" And when you probe your mind to think of the professional way, you realize we do many things the wrong way or the mediocre way.

We need an Independence Festival. All Tribes that make Uganda should have a stage and tent at this festival. For long, we've use the card of 'tribalism' to shut down our cultures, to shut down the things that make us Ugandans. What is Uganda if not for Acholi? What is Uganda if not for Buganda? What is Uganda without Basoga and their waist antics? What is Uganda without Karamoja? What is Uganda without the Banyankore? Without the Hima culture? What about Bunyoro and Banyoro?

The only true Independence is the independence of the mind. Is to be certain you are not regurgitating someone's thoughts, to think for one self, to have a right to one's opinions, even the stupid ones. A man is not free until his mind is free. A man can outsource everything in his life, but a man should never outsource his mind. He should never leave the thinking to another party. Read all books but form your own conclusions. Listen to everyone, but make your own judgement.

Even self-respect is earned. As with all kinds of respect, you must earn the right to respect yourself. Overtime, I have realized self respect is the hardest respect to earn. It doesn't come free. You must prove you to yourself. And I realized most of us don't respect ourselves. If your boss tells you to be at a certain place by 8am, most people will show up. But if we tell ourselves to be at a certain place by 8am to focus on something about ourselves, most of us won't show up. We don't respect 'us.'

There has a come a generation that is unstoppable. There has come a generation that won't sell out. There's a generation that's been re-birthed. You can hate it. You can love it. But as Steve Jobs once said, "you just can't ignore it." Once again, we are awake! Tuzukusse! This generation has a formidable force of guardians:

1. Bamweyana will grant it all the favour, all the love, all the ideas.

2. Kitinda will protect them. Will munch anyone that crosses their path

3. Ddungu will hunt for them. He will hunt ideas, he will hunt for solutions.

The most important person on the project is the stakeholder. The stakeholder is the most variable factor on the project. Stakeholders keep changing at every stage of a project. Their interest levels change, power on the project also changes. Stakeholders are the project. If you understand Stakeholder management, then you can run any project anywhere. That's why stakeholder holder identification is the first thing you do on a project as you develop the charter. Never start a project without knowing all the stakeholders. These keep changing.

Akalo Ka Buganda has an interesting story. Anyone who fails to understand this story is bound to repeat the mistakes of those who didn't understand it.

Buganda has had two known dynasties. The Tonda Dynasty and the Kintu Dynasty. During the Tonda Dynasty, the Gods used to live among men. Bemba was the last King of the Tonda Dynasty.

When Bemba was defeated, Kato Kintu established what we now know as Buganda. Good to note that Bemba's house was known as Buganda at Naggalabi in Buddo.

Poverty robs people of their self-esteem. Poverty robs a man of his dignity. Even when this man makes some money, he feels the need to prove a point. To prove that he is not broke any more. And that's a trap. That's how most people slide back into poverty. The only person to prove a point to, is yourself. There is no point trying to get validation from fellow broke people.

Self-esteem is the hardest thing to redeem. A man will be a millionaire but will remain haunted by the ghosts of poverty, those feelings of inadequacy.

The fine-dining experience is not yet cracked in Uganda. Most restaurants here do not live up to their billing. An experience is created across different touch points. Right from the security at the entrance, the welcome, the sitting, the waiting, all the way to the food. Ugandan restaurants have figured out the Architecture (probably stumbled on this). But the full experience is still a mirage. As a country, we need a course on how to deliver an experience. It is beyond smartly dressed waitresses and an expensive menu random names.

We have crossed to the Demoralisation Stage in Uganda. I have lived for sometime and never have I witnessed such levels of demoralisation in Uganda. I speak to Teachers, to Doctors, to Lawyers, the minds all exhibit high levels of demoralisation. The easiest mind to control is the demoralised mind. Because when you demoralise someone, you need not fight them any more. Their own mind will fight them. And Uganda is almost there. People do not even want to try business anymore.

Most writers become prisoners to their audience. They lose themselves. They begin to perform for the audience. Writers are not performers. When writers fall for praise, they are bound to become performers. He who praises you, controls you. Writers should disregard praise. When a writer gets taken by the Likes, the Retweets, they lose themselves. A writer has a special place in society. He tells the world about its secrets. A writer takes the greatest risks on behalf of society. To write something is to present yourself for eternal judgement.

Men are rarely happy in comfort. For men, happiness is a temporary thing, they glance at it for a moment, then it disappears.

The thing that brings men to life is conquest. A man is always trying to conquer something. And man only wants to conquer the risky, the hard etc Even at 80 with a slouched back, a man will always yearn for a conquest. And for a man regret comes from not having taken on conquests. A man regrets more from not taking risks than from taking them. Man will depressed from having nothing to conquer.

You must know your opponent. You must respect them. That's the first step in defeating them using the least amount of effort. Sun Tzu says knowing yourself and knowing your enemy ensures that you need not worry about the outcome of any battle. A lot of people tend to underrate their enemies. That's he first step to suffering shocks and surprises. Study your enemy. Study their motivations, their machinations, know what angers them, know their passion points, know where you hit, know those weak points.

The next axis of competition among companies is going to be around data. We thought it was automation.

But now, every company has automated. Every company has found a way to measure things and collect data. In a single day, companies are collecting data on everything. Now that companies have automated everything. And they have found a way to measure everything. There is two ways left to compete.
1. On how well and fast one organises their data and processes it for insights?

2. On who gets to build the best culture?
