An NYPD sergeant pleaded guilty to attacking a man in a holding cell and violently arresting another man in a subway station.

Phillip Wong, 37, originally pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault and attempted assault charges. But on Wednesday, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg said that Wong had pleaded guilty to assault and attempted assault, both in the third degree.

Police arrested a Bronx man on hate crime charges shortly after he was released without having to post bail in a feces attack on the subway, officials said. Image Frank Abrokwa, 37, was then released again without bail in the second case, according to a spokesperson for the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. After his arraignment Wednesday, Abrokwa got supervised release, “which is the most restrictive option under the law.”

New York has been ranked one of the top three states in the opportunities it has for women.

Personal-finance website WalletHub released its best states for women study. In its 2022 report, New York was ranked the third best state for women due to high rankings in life expectancy, median earnings and preventative health care.

More than a month after investigators say a child’s femur was broken at the hands of her teacher, a Florida family still has unanswered questions.

In mid-January, Leah Owen received a call no parent wants to receive. Her 3-year-old child with Autism, Gabby, was in class when investigators say she broke her femur. Investigators say the teacher, Samantha Forester, was changing Gabby out of wet clothes when the injury happened. Gabby was taken to the hospital and put in a cast.

The FBI offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to an arrest in two Brooklyn public housing shooting deaths from 2018.

On May 11, 2018, family members found 62-year-old Ana Delvalle dead in her NYCHA apartment on Moore Street. Her hands had been bound and she’d suffered a single gunshot wound to her head, police said at the time. A small amount of money appeared to have been taken from the grandma’s apartment.

Police arrested a Bronx man on hate crime charges shortly after he was released without bail in a feces attack on the subway, officials said.

Frank Abrokwa, 37, was originally arrested on Feb. 28 on charges of forcible touching, menacing, disorderly conduct and harassment. Image He allegedly smeared feces on a woman’s face as she sat on a bench in the East 241 Street subway station on Feb. 21.

“S–t happens. Haha,” Abrokwa said after his arrest, according to the criminal complaint. “This is a s—ty situation. Haha.”

Several teens were stabbed in a Brooklyn subway fight on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Three 16-year-old victims and a 21-year-old man were stabbed while on the platform at the Flushing Avenue stop on the J/Z subway line, officials said. They all headed to the hospital themselves for treatment. Two of the teens were stabbed in the chest and the other teen was stabbed in the arm. The older victim was stabbed in the chest and in the arm.

A man carried out seven assaults on women of Asian descent in just two hours on Sunday in Manhattan, police said.

All of the attacks were spread across Midtown, Gramercy Park, NoLita and the East Village. Image The suspect first struck at about 6:30 p.m. near Madison Avenue and East 30th Street in Midtown, according to the NYPD. He then approached a 57-year-old Asian woman and punched her once in the face; police said the two did not interact at all before the attack.

Municipal workers in New York City who have not complied with the city’s COVID vaccine mandate will be terminated on Friday.

On Aug. 2, all new hires were required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment. Last week, separation letters were sent to all city workers who were not in compliance with the mandate. Anyone waiting on a religious exemption appeal will be allowed to remain.

It started with a sleeping NYPD officer shot just hours into the new year and continued with another six officers shot in the first weeks of 2022.

Most recently, an off-duty officer was shot in the foot as he attended a vigil in Harlem. He was the second off-duty officer shot in the course of the week. Two of the seven officers shot this year — Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora — died of their injuries. They were shot on Jan. 21 when they responded to a domestic incident in Harlem.
