THREAD: Attorneys say they can't believe AG Tish James signed off on a proposed settlement for Harvey Weinstein victims, which included terms she personally assured them would never happen.

A federal judge nixed the deal, calling it "obnoxious."
nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-we… The proposed settlement was covered by insurers. Harvey and Bob Weinstein didn't pay anything -- they actually received millions for legal costs. Other money would have gone to former Weinstein Co. board member James Dolan and actors like Bradley Cooper and Meryl Streep.

We just got our first look at Ghislaine Maxwell over a video feed from MDC Brooklyn. She's sporting a brown jail uniform and appeared (unsurprisingly) anxious ahead of a bail hearing set to start at 1 p.m. Maxwell hearing highlighting just how disruptive COVID has been to the courts. Sound isn't great. Maxwell's confirmation she can hear the proceeding is choppy, and Judge Nathan had to call the case herself because her deputy seems to have fallen off the call.
