On Saturday July 26th, Prince Reza Pahlavi will host the Convention of National Cooperation to Save Iran in Munich, Germany. The purpose of this convention is to agree on a road map for a democratic transition and a plan for the reconstruction of the country.
The Convention will bring together over 500 attendees, composed of political organizations and prominent dissidents and activists, entrepreneurs, academics, artists, and athletes, who represent the most diverse coalition ever established against the regime. Attendees will span the ideological spectrum of Iranian politics from left to right, monarchist and republican and will also represent the diverse array of Iran’s demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds including different religious, linguistic, ethnic and tribal groups.
The Convention of National Cooperation is centred on the inalienable right of the Iranian people to freely choose their future form of democratic government. It is built around three fundamental principles:
- Iran’s territorial Integrity;
- Protection of individual liberties and equality of all citizens;
- Separation of religion and state.
The day will contain speeches and policy discussions regarding their common vision for a secular and democratic Iran. There will be testimonials from survivors of the regime’s brutality and messages from those inside the country.
