Safetyists often say all art is political. But have you noticed that when presented with works that show hard-hitting sociopolitical issues, the safetyists shrink from them? Depicting social evil, even if to condemn it, angers them. (cc @JoshuaLisec, @KasimirUrbanski mini-thread) The most obvious case of this is the *Berserk* manga. It does not shrink from showing you the evil that people can do, and yet the safetyists will blast it as “problematic,” as if it presents those acts as something to aspire to. 1/

Safetyism in art is evil because it renders all artistic creation pointless. Also, a partial refutation of @Raz0rfist’s otherwise excellent video on copyright. (THREAD) cc @wastelandJD @JoshuaLisec @cirsova @BrianNiemeier @WorderFarmer Safetyism changes the bold, wide vistas of imaginative storytelling into sterile, stifling bureaucratic mandates. Everything must be in full compliance with cultural dictates handed down by prominent persons or interest groups, or it will be deemed dangerous and unsafe. 1/

How Rawle Nyanzi would rewrite the plot of the Pokémon anime. We will go from the backstory to the ending, but this will only be Part 1. (THREAD) #anipoke

cc @MrBCWalker @bpardoe870 @NotJohnDaker @NotJonMollison Image The backstory begins in Current Year. Economic and political crises wrack the world in the wake of a global pandemic. One war has already broken out in Eastern Europe while another is feared in Asia. 1/ Image

Everybody talks about what AI will do to employment.

Nobody talks about what AI will do to morality.

(THREAD) Image It’s the near future, and AI has conquered most industries. Robots grow our food, mine our resources, do our accounting, and draw our art, among many other tasks. Humans need not apply. 1/ Image
