My daughter won a DiscoverEU card so she can travel by train through Europe for a month for free! Already the attached FB group had a guy trying to meet up with female travellers, assaulting one. Police are involved. My daughter hasn’t even left yet. This is the reality of being female. She can’t identify out of this. I can’t identify out of worrying for her safety and having to have conversations about that with her. This is what it means to be a woman.

So I was still in bed when my daughter texted me on her way to the bus stop but I was so furious I got dressed, got in the car and looked for the bin truck. It turned out it was a different one than the one carrying the harasser, and the bin men (themselves fathers) were very friendly and helped me track down the presumed perpetrator to whom I talked on the phone.

Oh lovely, an app that lets you appoint a “guardian” who can follow your every move and alert your guardian when you change pace or stop walking. An abuser’s dream! An app to help keep women safe on the street should be about women being able to share the presence of creepy men and reporting them to the police if necessary. It should always be focussed on men.

How can you determine if someone is "trans" if you can't determine their sex? How can you determine someone's sex if it's not tied to the body?

Women are constantly explaining why we need women-only spaces, often sharing traumatic experiences.

So how do the men do it? What arguments do they put forward to retain men-only spaces? 1. Just say you took a vote on it and it didn't pass

#stemwijzer #Verkiezingen2021

@jameelajamil Spout nonsense/mute replies. Sigh. We'll be here spreading a sense of reality.

Men have never been and will never be at the forefront of feminism. That includes men who say they are women. Claiming men can be women transgresses every single boundary women have ever fought for. @jameelajamil How many men were banned from voting because they said they were women? Or because they dressed or acted femininely, or believed to have a female soul? Zero, that's how many. Why? Because they're men.

Just met with the brand new coordination team of my women's network *jumps around excitedly*

One woman who recently organised an event said her boss told her: "I'm sure it was awful. A room full of only women."

The event was on benevolent sexism. The man is clearly afraid of women. It made me wonder why men feel so threatened by women, and only women, gathering in one place.

FYI the reason Twitter silenced me again for 12 hours was calling this man - Scottish politician - a man. He was calling women ‘cis’ which I and a good number of other women objected to. Because we do not identify as women, we are women. It’s our biological reality and it exposes us to the risk of male violence, discrimination and exclusion every day.

Fuck you, Frank. Which reminds me of my abortion doctor who, upon seeing two embryos on the ultrasound, said that would make me it “a double murder”.

So as long as I'm on Twitter I want to write a few words about what Twitter means to me and what it means when @twitter bans women for speaking our minds. I joined Twitter in 2009 - omg that's 10 years ago!! - let's call this my Tenth Twitterversary Thread then.

So as I was looking into a grubby outfit's misogynistic policies (i.e. removing women from premises for expressing unwanted opinions) I found the Met Police's page on the "Ask for Angela" campaign. @grubmcr referred to the Everyone Welcome Initiative it adheres to (it's unclear who's behind this initiative but it firmly declares it's "not PC gone mad") that refers to this page. everyonewelcomeinitiative.com

This’ll be interesting. “But the court said there would be practical problems in allowing people to change their birth date, as it would mean legally deleting part of their lives.”

Which is exactly what happens when sex on a birth certificate is changed retroactively. “The judge asked Mr Ratelband about the status of his early years, from 1949 to 1969, if his official birth date was put back.

"For whom did your parents care in those years? Who was that little boy back then?," the judge asked.”

The same dilemma applies to sex change.

I don’t even know where to start with this. Women who believe they are men can help the #MeToo movement? Please don’t exclude us? NOBODY’S EXCLUDING YOU. You’re pretending to be a man. Apparently successfully, because women cross the street when they see you at night and lesbians don’t accept you in their community anymore. Men can’t tell you’re a woman. Congratulations, “you’re a man”!

"...the barber, mistakenly believing he was a woman..." We are definitely down the rabbit hole, people. "... the barber proceeded to shake his head and stated, “I am sorry, we can’t cut ladies’ hair. It’s a contract that we have with another hairdresser around the corner, so if we cut a woman’s hair we will be fined”.

Is this contract now null and void? I'd like to know.

"Transgender" means to believe your body is incongruent with how you feel. Like anorexia. So when are people going to demand we all validate anorexics by referring to them as fat? Not going along with someone's delusion ≠ denying their existence nor is it bigotry. Of course no one is going to demand we validate anorexics: they're almost all female and most are girls. Nobody cares about the existence of girls or how unhappy they are with their bodies.

I'm sure most women know this feeling. A man 'brushes' against your breast. Or puts his hand a bit too low on your back. You immediately become very uncomfortable but you say nothing. There are people there. You're doing something, you're engaged in conversation, you're focused on something else. You're acutely aware your boundaries are being violated but somehow it doesn't occur to you to stop it.

Producers demand rape scenes and sex industry friendly story lines (e.g. a stripper girlfriend) are added to scripts. It's all part of a pattern. I was happy to see 2 more seasons of @modernfamily added on @Netflix. Problematic in different ways (e.g. homophobia, horrible adoption jokes)

Instead of saying Saudi Arabia now lets/allows women to drive let's say the ban on women driving was lifted. First of all, when the powers that be "allow" an oppressed group a right, they can withdraw it again if they like.
