In 2010, @CBP agents tortured & killed #AnastasioHernandezRojas in public. 12 yrs later, in the first case against the US involving an extrajudicial killing by US law enforcement, the InterAmerican Commission on Human Rights heard the case & the US govt's response was abysmal. Maria Puga represented her family & described in detail how destructive the murder of her spouse, #AnastasioHernandezRojas, has been for them.

CBP has opened a public comment period for their proposed project of constructing 30-ft border walls at Friendship Park. The comment period ends on Oct 12. You can add your name to letters that @fofpark will submit on that date: Medical professionals can sign a letter that points to how 30-ft border walls have led to a 5x increase in serious traumatic injuries to local trauma units from 2019 to 2021 in San Diego & Imperial Counties.

In Portland & elsewhere, it's not Trump's "secret" police or a new paramilitary force. This is the #BorderPatrol, & bipartisan Congresses for decades have bloated its budget & enabled it to act with impunity in our communities along the US-Mexico border. We breathe this reality. I've described here how from Nixon to Trump and all in-between, the militarization of border communities, including quadrupling Border Patrol personnel, set-up a formula for an unaccountable police force.

Now it's ready to usurp local police power.
