Former UNLV QB Matthew Sluka’s NIL representation, Marcus Cromartie of Equity Sports, told ESPN that Sluka was verbally promised a minimum of $100,000 from a UNLV assistant coach for transferring there. None of that money was paid, per Cormartie. Once Sluka enrolled there, there was no effort by the UNLV’s collective to formalize a contract at that amount. Months after Sluka enrolled and Cormartie made multiple efforts with the staff and school to address the issue.

News: NCAA Football Oversight Committee expected to introduce new “non-controversial legislation” to DI Council on April 12/13, per document obtained by ESPN. If passes Council and then NCAA Board of Governors, it would be adopted Aug. 1. Two steps away, but likely to happen. 1/8 The FOC’s legislation, after surveying coaches/staffs:
*Revised football calendar includes allowing coaches to visit juniors in person starting Jan. 1 of junior year of HS. This is basically 11 months earlier than currently.

🧵Thread on Big 12 expansion, timeline and what’s next after talking to a few sources. 🧵 A reasonable expectation for the BYU/Cincy/UCF/Houston crew to join is 2023. BYU could be more flexible because they are independent. AAC schools need to give 27 months notice. But we’ve learned that’s negotiable.

A few things to ponder when waiting to find out when Texas and OU start in the SEC. The current SEC TV deal with CBS runs out after the 2023 football season. (That deal is a terrible deal for the SEC, excellent for CBS at around $55 million for best games and SEC title game) 1/5 If OU and Texas came to the SEC prior to 2023, assuming they escape grant of rights, CBS would presumably have access to Red River and their home games. CBS has shown in past SEC realignment that they aren’t going to pay more money for these games. 2/5

Sources: MAC presidents meet again tomorrow after not reaching a conclusion on the fate of the season yesterday. All options are open, including cancelling fall sports. Coaches unable to give players answers to their questions about the season has created an undercurrent (Thread) of uncertainty and increased the chances of opt outs. There’s a hope around the MAC that other leagues cancel first. There’s optics concerns over enrollment and worries their rosters will get raided. 2/4

WVU AD Shane Lyons sent a letter to the NCAA Board of Governors on behalf of the Football Oversight Committee. @YahooSports obtained the letter, which essentially asks the BOG to wait to postpone/cancel fall championships, which could be decided on Friday. From the letter: “We are simply requesting that the Board of Governors not make an immediate decision on the outcome of fall championships so that conferences and schools may have ample latitude to continue to evaluate the viability of playing football this fall.”
