I don't think there's a 'right' way, but some of the folks who do really long threads like @SethAbramson (sometimes over 100 tweets in one thread!) simply write up their whole thread (probably in a plain text app like... /1@venterandy@jonfavs@threadreaderapp@SethAbramson ...Notepad, but not Word otherwise auto-formatting happens) and then, when done, simply paste the whole thread into twitter which then shows how much text can be included in the first tweet. I would then cut the remaining text, add ".../1" at the end of the first tweet and... /2
