First impressions of the "Case for Cambridge" document that the Government has published today () - firstly, they aren't saying "Cambridge 2040" any more; instead, the timescale is very much to 2050gov.uk/government/pub… Secondly, it's overall quite @createstreets-y, with quite a lot about gentle density and urban design issues

Time to add some data to the swirling Twitter debate about Cambridgeshire bus subsidies. This table published by @AnnaBailey_Ely gives the subsidy per return journey for the ten most expensive routes. However, it's been criticised by @borofergie and others because it only counts fare-paying passengers, and doesn't include concessionary travel. So how much difference does that make? We don't know the exact number of concessionary passengers on those specific routes, but...

A sharp rise in Covid-19 hospitalisations this week, with the number of patients in Addenbrooke's up from 30 to 50. However, it's worth noting that the number in critical care (shown by the red bars) is down slightly - the increase is due to non-critical cases. Cases in Cambridge are up about 7% over the week, with a fall in the last couple of days undoing some of the earlier increase.

I have the solution to Brexit, based on a detailed analysis of national political opinion, using datasets from Parliament's petition website. And the answer is...puppies. I downloaded data for the 50 most popular petitions, and used linear regression of the signatures per constituency to find closely connected petitions. Then I fed the results into the @keylines network visualisation toolkit that I help build in my day job at @CambridgeIntel.
