I think what this tells us, first of all, is to be always skeptical of depictions of freed hostages as being given humane treatment. Those videos from Qassam Brigades which I call "Hamasbara" are propagandistic in nature, so they'll always show themselves in a positive light. 1/
That being said, it's important to put these testimonies in context.
First, let's establish that is is NEVER justified to take civilian hostages. Not even as tokens for prisoner exchange. And being taken hostage is NEVER a positive experience. 2/
