Mughal Emperor Akbar's Royal Sun worship cult 🌞

"A special grace proceeds from the sublime sun to kings; hence they pray to it and consider it worshipping the Almighty, the shortsighted make this suspicious." – Ain-i-Akbari

A thread based on Jos Gommans (2024) Image Akbar’s sun worship is framed within the broader “Great Tradition of Neoplatonism” while having heavy Indo-Iranian influence in ritual.

@nrken19 Since this is a related topic. I would like to make a claim that the majority of the lexical borrowings in Finno-Uralic languages from Indo-Iranian were during the East to West movement of the Scythians. Image @nrken19 The words like dasa - which were a central Asia tribe in the Rig Veda and Avesta. The BMAC words for camel among other words seems to suggest primarily a post 1000 BCE stage of word borrowing in many FU languages.
