I would like to take this snow day to correct a misconception. Teachers are resigning across the country. For some reason, people think it's easy for teachers to land a job outside of education. That's not the truth.
One part of it... Look at the media. Nobody respects the WORK that teachers do. But, they do respect us as moral beings. Meaning, when they see "teacher" on a resume they go "awww! so sweet. ABCs. 123s." but they don't actually think we have transferable skills.

Happy Halloween!!!
I wanted to take the time out to share my experience teaching "History of Horror Films" as a middle school elective with all of you.
Spooky thread.
The class was birthed by the pandemic. Luckily, I work at a school that encourages teachers to design their own electives based on their passions. And in the midst of concurrent teaching, I knew that we needed something fresh and new to engage kids while they were at home.

Giving kids grace is not the same as lowering expectations.
I will listen to you. I will reteach. I will sit with you and answer questions. I'll even let you come up with your own writing topic and say bump the directions. I'll let you propose something completely new. I'll listen and ask you where I need to improve. This is grace, to me
