It is shameful that so soon after another tragic school shooting, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law a permitless concealed carry bill behind closed doors, which eliminates the need to get a license to carry a concealed weapon. This is the opposite of commonsense gun safety. The people of Florida — who have paid a steep price for state and Congressional inaction on guns from Parkland to Pulse Nightclub to Pine Hills — deserve better.

As President Biden has made clear: antisemitism has no place in America. All Americans should forcefully reject antisemitism – including Holocaust denial – wherever it exists. .@POTUS is establishing an inter-agency group led by Domestic Policy Council staff and National Security Council staff to increase and better coordinate U.S. Government efforts to counter antisemitism, Islamophobia, and related forms of bias and discrimination within the U.S.

Every minute that Brittney Griner must endure wrongful detention in Russia is a minute too long. As the Administration continues to work tirelessly to secure her release, the President has directed the Administration to prevail on her Russian captors to improve her treatment and the conditions she may be forced to endure in a penal colony.

.@POTUS knows that the men and women of coal country built this nation: they powered its steel mills and factories, kept its homes and schools and offices warm.  They made this the most productive and powerful nation on Earth. He came to the White House to end years of big words but little action to help the coal-producing parts of our country.

.@POTUS in San Diego, CA: “And I’m here at ViaSat today because when it comes to supporting our veterans and winning the economic competition for 21st Century this is the outfit you want to be with.” “It was started by three friends in a garage…Now, it’s a multi-billion-dollar company with thousands of employees. And over 700 of its employees are veterans. This company has been recognized nationally by the Department of Labor as a leading workplace for veterans.”

.@POTUS sharing how he and @FLOTUS know how much student debt relief matters:“My wife has been a community college professor for years and she’s traveled across the country meeting students from every walk of life.” “Some worked two and three jobs while going to school putting dinner on the table, helping their children with their homework, and then staying up late to do their own homework.”

.@POTUS on new actions to provide families with more breathing room: “One of the key things I’ve asked the Council to take on are the unfair hidden fees known as ‘junk fees’ that are taking real money out of your pockets.” “…each year these ‘junk’ fees that companies charge cost Americans tens of billions of dollars weighing down family budgets and making it harder for people to pay their bills. So my Administration is taking action to eliminate them.”

Tonight’s temporary order does not prevent borrowers from applying for student debt relief at studentaid.gov – and we encourage eligible borrowers to join the nearly 22 million Americans whose information the Department of Education already has. It also does not prevent us from reviewing these applications and preparing them for transmission to loan servicers.

.@POTUS on the fight to ensure Americans get this much-needed relief: “Now, let’s talk about who is AGAINST helping millions of you who need the help.” “Republican members of Congress and Republican Governors are doing everything they can to deny this relief even to their own constituents.”

.@POTUS speaking about the rapid rebuild of the Fern Hollow Bridge in Pittsburgh: “When I was here in January, I told the Governor that we’d help him rebuild this bridge behind us as fast as possible.” “That day, the Governor signed an emergency order that let us move separate federal highway money to this project quickly.”

On #NationalComingOutDay, I'm proud to share my coming out story. Like so many in the LGBTQ+ community, coming out wasn’t an easy thing to do. My family was traditional and conservative. Being gay in my family wasn’t something that you mentioned out loud or celebrated. But my family, like many families, grew to accept who I was. Who I loved didn’t change who I was as a person. It didn’t change the things I liked to do, and it didn’t change the goals I had for my life.

All women should have access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care and should be able to make their own decisions about their bodies. We are encouraged by the Michigan Supreme Court’s decision that will allow the proposed amendment to the state constitution affirming a woman’s right to choose to be put on the ballot this November.

The Administration is reviewing today’s decision by the Northern District of Texas. The Affordable Care Act has been the law of the land for over 10 years. In addition to making affordable health insurance available to millions of Americans, the ACA has guaranteed free access to critical preventive medical services—from cancer screenings to HIV prevention drugs like PrEP.

We are closely monitoring the floods in Mississippi, and the @POTUS has been briefed.

At his direction, we have been in regular contact with state and local officials, including Mayor Lumumba, and made clear that the Federal Government stands ready to offer assistance. FEMA is working closely with the state officials to identify needs, and the EPA is coordinating with industry partners to expedite delivery of critical treatment equipment for emergency repairs at the City of Jackson water treatment facilities.

We send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and strongly condemn her killing. Lots to say about how grateful I am to @POTUS and @FLOTUS and the Biden family for trusting me to serve as @PressSec and plenty of time before my last day to share, but today is about @KJP46 so a few thoughts on this remarkable woman who will soon be behind the podium every day. She will be the first black woman and the first openly LGBTQ+ person to serve as the White House Press Secretary. Representation matters and she will give a voice to many, but also make many dream big about what is truly possible.

We have seen reports that Russia may be considering seizing the assets of U.S. and international companies that have announced plans to suspend operations in Russia or to withdraw from the Russian market. These decisions are ultimately up to companies. As President Biden said earlier this week, we welcome the decisions of companies to exit Russia because they want no part of Russia’s war of choice against Ukraine.

We took note of Russia’s false claims about alleged U.S. biological weapons labs and chemical weapons development in Ukraine. We’ve also seen Chinese officials echo these conspiracy theories. This is preposterous. It’s the kind of disinformation operation we’ve seen repeatedly from the Russians over the years in Ukraine and in other countries, which have been debunked, and an example of the types of false pretexts we have been warning the Russians would invent.
