How do we move from hiring to retaining women (especially woman of color)? There is work that finds women of color are much more likely to leave an institution than other demographic groups - this is true even when people have tried to do cluster hiring.🧵(1) The experience for women of color is that they are treated badly or their group is treated badly. @VirginiaValian says it’s important to spend informal time with women so they feel important to the department.
