Translating some major points from Sakurai's latest interview about his YouTube channel.
Original Source:
news.denfaminicogamer.jp/interview/2212…

1. Sakurai is really happy with the positive response to his videos. His videos are averaging over 99% like/dislike ratio. (This means almost everyone is leaving a like)
His ratio is just slightly higher outside of Japan.

2. He reads through all the comments and again is pleased to see it is generally positive.

The Famitsu containing the last Sakurai Column is now out! As expected, the feature is quite in-depth but @KodyNOKOLO and I will be tackling it!

First up, is an interview focused on Smash Ultimate's DLC. This will take time, so stay tuned to this thread for updates. @KodyNOKOLO Sakurai starts off by stating that the time in between projects is the most peaceful. He can do what he likes and mentions that he wants to go on a trip.

There is a potential leak of Sakurai's upcoming interview/the last column. It's unknown the exact context of the quote and where it exactly it came from. More information might come to light soon.

Thanks to @DKHF_ for the heads up.

[1/3] READ ABOVE TWEET

Reportedly, Sakurai will state that he will be lurking in the shadows for some time. It might even be best to not think about him for the time being.

However, he will be careful not to disappear completely.

This is the summary of Sakurai's Column 639, “The Final One”. Sakurai discusses Sora’s inclusion in Smash Ultimate. @KodyNOKOLO is joining me with this translation and will be posting the second half. Please make sure to follow both of us for the full details! Sakurai starts off by saying that Sora’s reveal had an amazing reaction! For more details, fans can watch Mr. Sakurai Presents Sora to learn more about the last fighter. He mentions it in the presentation, but Sora was the #1 most requested new character in the Fighter Ballot.

Sakurai Column Leak About Sora
NOTE: this isn't the full column but a translation of a summary of the column.

Stay tuned for the full translation when the column becomes available. The wording may change. I'll link that tweet thread in this one when it's available. 1/4 The barrier for Sora joining the battle was quite high. In fact the negotiation team might have thought it would be impossible.

Sora joining Smash is actually the result of a lucky meeting between Sakurai and one of the heads of Disney at an award show. 2/4

Last week Sakurai released #638 of his Famitsu Column "Think about the Video Games". Since it didn't get translated I wanted to do a quick Twitter overview of the column. Special thanks to @KodyNOKOLO and @brando_themando for their help with getting this translation to everyone🧵 The title of the column is "Wrapping Up my Work". He starts off by stating that by the time the column is actually released, the last fighter should already be announced. He will write about (Sora) in the next column (which is due next week) and then release his final column. 2/?

Volume 651 (Probably a typo as it should be Volume 615), is titled “Minecraft Joins Smash”. In it, Sakurai discusses Steve’s inclusion in Smash. Thanks to @japaneseswitch for sponsoring my portion!

@Sephazon will handle the 2nd part (continued in thread).

[1/10] At 11 PM on October 1st, 2020 (JST), Twitter crashed in Japan, North America and Europe. Users were unable to post anything, but Sakurai notes that when Twitter was back online, he received a massive amount of feedback from worldwide players. [2/10]

SAKURAI COLUMN LEAK:
Next column will be about Steve in Smash.

As with other leaks, remember this translation is just a couple of quotes, which can be taken out of context. Please stay tuned for when the full column is released for more details.
{1/?} Nintendo/Sakurai presented the idea of Minecraft in Smash to Microsoft, and they were very happy with it.

Sakurai and the team tried to make a stage within Minecraft itself to port over to Smash, but it was too difficult. {Will probably have more context for this later}

There's a CEDEC 2020 talk on the art direction for Animal Crossing New Horizons. In this thread, I'll be translating the important bits from the talk.

I'll be translating in real-time, so please follow to stay up to date.

Thanks to @PanchamBro for the heads up! First, they introduce the speakers: Koji Takahashi, Asako Shibata, and Hiromi Sugimoto.

Animal Crossing started in 2001, and it has been 19 years since the series debut.

The concept of human to human communication has remained constant throughout the series.

Sakurai Didn't Say That: Sakurai on WiFi

Recently Nintendo Everything published a translation on Sakurai's comments on Smash Ultimate and online play. Unfortunately, they mistranslated the statement leading to confusion among many fans

THREAD TIME [1/6]. Sakurai's Original Comment:
なお、相手がWi-Fiがどうか表示してほしいという要望を耳にしますが、だから拒否できるというわけでもないのでできません。
It's a complicated and long sentence, which is why it's difficult to accurately translate. It's where the confusion comes from. [2/6]

Some screenshots of Ring Fit Adventures beta Originally the game was far more simplistic

Players didn't have the Ring Con, and instead held two Joy-Cons in each hand. Players would move across a field, and in order to fit enemies have to punch them. Battling was still turn based.

As previously discussed, Sakurai Column #611 “Improvements Have Their Downsides” is about Small Battlefield and some of the changes to Ultimate’s netcode. Thanks to @JapaneseSwitch for sponsoring this post. For more Nintendo news, check out their website.

THREAD It starts off discussing the August 5th update. Sakurai notes he’s a bit late in writing about these topics and changes. Although Battlefield is often used in 1v1 competitive play,it was originally designed for 4 players, and because of that, Battlefield is slightly tall and wide.

Famitsu Column for Sakurai has leaked.

Here are some takeaways:
6 additional fighters are being made for Smash Ultimate. After that, there are no other plans so Smash Ultimate is almost finished. Nintendo decided the characters for the DLC. Sakurai did not.
(will translate additional details in an hour, gotta run)

I'll be translating the newest column with the help of @nokoloc of @AllSourceGaming. This means that we will be able to get through the translation quicker and more accurately.

Remember to follow @japaneseswitch as without their help this translation would be possible. @nokoloc @AllSourceGaming @japaneseswitch Sakurai starts off the column by stating that Banjo and Kazooie should have been released by the time this column comes out. At the same time as their announcement, additional fighters outside of the fighter pass were announced. This is the main topic of the column (#587).
