Just before I scooted my teen off to bed I was telling him about Ruby Bridges

Then it turned to a convo about how I was one of the 1st kids to desegregate South African schools

He was shocked

I implore Black people to tell their stories

Kids need to know to OUR RECENT history Image Ruby is still alive.

I am still alive.

We can tell you what it was like.

We do not want you to experience what it was like.

Misinformation: Democrats don’t pass laws for Black people

Fact: Republicans sue to overturn Black laws

For example: Senator Bae Raphael Warnock’s $5 BILLION bill for Black farmers was blocked in court Senator Bae promised to help Georgia’s Black farmers

In 2021 he introduced the Emergency Relief for Farmers of Color Act and fought to get it in the American Rescue Plan

Senator Graham called it reparations

Senator Toomey proposed an amendment to strip it from ARP but failed

Every Uber ride I chat with the driver

He is enthused

I listened without judgement The main thing I heard about not voting for Democrats was about the economy

A year ago USDA opened the application process for the Discrimination Financial Assistance Program

Today 43,000 primarily Black farmers received payments between $3500 – $500,000!

Despite legal challenges and attacks the Biden-Harris administration never stopped

Promises kept There were two categories of recipients:

- 23,000 individuals who have or had a farming or ranching operation (average of $82,000)

- 20,000 individuals who planned to have a farming or ranching operation, but couldn’t get a USDA loan (average of $5000)
