I've been seeing a lot of "advice" for self-publishing around the internet that basically boils down to "write as fast as possible, publish as fast as possible, repeat until rich."
Folks, this is not how being an author works. (THREAD)
This is not to say you can't sell books this way. If you're writing fast in a hot genre & putting out hooky ideas, you can absolutely get people to click. But if your only focus is on mass production, the chances of those people buying again are very slim indeed.

Warning: Incoming Real Talk.
I've been battling depression pretty hard this year. I had a major breakthrough recently and I wanted to post in the hopes it'll help someone else, but I also to show that everyone deals w/ this stuff, even people who are "living the dream."
I always feel guilty admitting when I'm having trouble because I'm an author. I am literally living my childhood dream. I feel like I don't have the right to be unhappy, but of course life doesn't work that way.
