I’ve been reading a lot of LE23 analysis and I have to say that the most galaxy brain take is that the DUP need to work out how to appeal to middle ground Unionist voters. And I don’t know who needs to hear this, but a huge part of that demographic leaves NI forever at 18. The book on NI emigration “Leaving the North” explores how young people from PUL communities leave for university/jobs elsewhere between 18 and 21 and do not return. It’s not much of a stretch to interpret this as a tacit rejection of the Unionist politics at home.
