I've never understood people who've told me that you can either be STEM person OR an arts person -- not just bc J is a scientist with a Master of Arts and I'm an artist with a Bachelor of Science, but also bc have you ever seen what beautiful math music makes? And seriously, you can HEAR the music in a well-crafted calculus equation or see the beauty in finally gazing upon the perfect balance in stoichiometry

Hell, what even is geometry but numbers applied to art? And what is art but that geometry -- or subversion of it -- in motion?

The older I get, the more I realize I'm not Luke or Han -- I'm the Rebel nerd who stared at a holo of the Death Star plans for 36 hours straight, fueled only by space coffee and spite, and ran simulations until I said HUH WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE SHOT A BOMB DOWN THIS HOLE I'm telling you, SpaceMe will have this image burned onto my retinas for the rest of my life

It has taken me four years to realize the nightmare that inspired one of my books was largely influenced by S1 of OUAT and I have never felt so utterly seen and utterly betrayed by my own brain (yes, S1 has the lowest production value, but I love it with all of my trashy soul -- you know, before everything got all super-meta and contrived and overexplained and needlessly complicated)

ICYDK tw*tter stealthily auto-follows interests for you unless you manually turn each one off individually 🙃

if you're getting posts from things you don't follow and you don't know why, this is probably it

Here's how to find and undo as much as you can Even with all of the personalizations settings turned off, they still record every single thing you interact with, so you'll probably want to periodically go through and uncheck as much as you can

this one hurts, guys

I met Jeremy Bulloch at a con a couple years ago -- he had been placed near a VERY famous (non-SW) actor who had hour-long lines, meaning his own were . . . not

(every author who's signed books at a festival knows this feel)

so he had lots of time to talk and so we did

We talked for something like half an hour

Very little of it was fan-stuff talk -- mostly we talked about books. He was especially proud that his ridiculously smart son (Jamie) had helped him write a book

The Take: This is not it

"Some publishing executives worry their authors and staff might rebel, but--"

YOU THINK? Welp

President-elect update re: 3 prominent WH aides

(if you're not familiar w/Rep Richmond, he's from New Orleans and was the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus) good GRAVY, the president-elect's lead advisor for law actually . . . HAS A DEGREE IN LAW

(guys, I know SusOrangeBitch's bar is so low that it's in the Earth's mantle, but every time I see Biden add another qualified person to his team, it makes me unreasonably happy)

okay, going to expound a little upon this and tell you why this speech -- and much of Biden's rhetoric leading up to the election -- is like hostage negotiation you've all seen the FBI shows (Criminal Minds, Mindhunter, etc) where they use psychological tactics to try and catch criminals

in many of these instances, they're dealing with hostage situations

it's a pretty apt comparison to what's been going on for the past 4 years
